Description
Basics of Finnish language and culture. Lessons introduce students to important everyday
expressions and grammatical structures needed in basic communication situations.
The course will enhance and develop student's project management and professional skills. Project
Training will organized in co-operation with the business life working with actual targets of
development in a company.
Electronically-controlled units and sensors in engines. Air, fuel and ignition systems. Exhaust
lambda-sensors. Knock control system. Turbocharging systems. Cylinder pressure. Data acquisition
system. Measurement methods and equipment.

Measurement equipment and data acquisition system of engine laboratory. Specific fuel
consumption of internal combustion engine. Indicating air/fuel ratio. Indicating cylinder pressure.
Exhaust emission measurements. Measurements of exhaust gas purification system. International
standards.

Software and hardware of a common Computer Aided Design (CAD) system. Usage of a 3D CAD
system in modelling of mechanical parts and assemblies. Making of the drawings._x000D_

Project structure and planning. Project management and project organization. Work Breakdown
structure. Project planning tools and methods. Schedule and resources. Project communications
and documentation. The application of projects in the students own professional field.
Basics of the national economy, stakeholders of a company, main principle of book keeping, profit
and loss account, balance sheet, charasteristics, material cost, salary cost, investments and budjet
calculations.

Project work available in the field of mechanical design, machine automation, automotive
engineering, production development or simulation. N.B.! Can be also extended up to 15 ECTS cr as
one project, if interests and resources match. Can be
chosen only in one term!

The course has a "culture general -approach". The study topics among others are: defining culture,
intercultural skills and sensitivity, cultural adaptation, intercultural communication and teamwork
skills. The objective is to move from cultural awareness to understanding and appreciation.
