Assemblyman Jonathan Bing Receives Trifecta of Progressive Endorsements

Secures support from NARAL Pro-Choice NY, the Empire State Pride Agenda and the
New York League of Conservation Voters

New York, NY – As his campaign continues its momentum, Assemblyman Jonathan Bing
received the endorsements of NARAL Pro-Choice NY, the Empire State Pride Agenda, and the
New York League of Conservation Voters, illustrating his depth of support among progressive
organizations who value the work he has accomplished on behalf of women’s rights, the LGBT
community, and the environment.

In the Assembly, Jonathan Bing has been a leader in the fight to enact some of the most
progressive legislation in New York’s history. He is the author of the Equal Rights Amendment
legislation, which would add “sex” to the list of protected categories in the New York State
Constitution, and is an original co-sponsor of the same-sex marriage bill. Assemblyman Bing is
also a sponsor of GENDA, which prohibits discrimination based on gender identity, the Dignity
for All Students Act which protects LGBT students from bullying, as well as the Reproductive
Health Act, and numerous laws to assist and promote minority and women-owned businesses.
Most recently, Bing authored the groundbreaking no-fault divorce law, bringing New York in
line with in the rest of the nation to adopt progressive divorce procedures.

On environmental issues, Assemblyman Bing has been at the forefront of enhancing New York
City’s public transportation options, in particular Bus Rapid Transit along First and Second
Avenues. Bing has also led the fight to create incentives for businesses to invest in renewable
energy systems, expand New York’s recycling programs, oppose natural gas drilling in the
Marcellus Shale, make home heating oil cleaner, and reduce wasteful electricity use.

In acknowledging Bing’s leadership in protecting and preserving the environment, New York
League of Conservation Voters President Marcia Bystryn stated, “We are proud to endorse
Assemblyman Jonathan Bing for re-election. Assemblyman Bing has been a strong ally on
environmental issues, including his successful efforts this year to improve bus transportation in
New York City. We look forward to our continued work with Assemblyman Bing in the coming
years.”

“In the Assembly, Jonathan Bing has been a leading voice for a woman’s right to choose,” stated
NARAL Pro-Choice New York President Kelli Conlin. “Time and again, Jonathan has shown his
commitment to protecting women’s reproductive rights. He sponsored the Reproductive Health
Act and the recently enacted law that increases penalties for individuals who cause injury or
harm to healthcare workers providing reproductive health services, or the women receiving such
services. That’s why we support Jonathan Bing for re-election.”

Praising Assemblyman Bing’s efforts in support of marriage for same-sex couples and LGBT
equality, Empire State Pride Agenda Executive Director Ross Levi noted, “Jonathan Bing has
been a champion of equal rights for all New Yorkers for as long as I can remember. As an
original co-sponsor of the same-sex marriage legislation introduced in 2003, Jonathan has been
at the forefront for ending state-sanctioned discrimination and advancing fundamental rights for
all, regardless of sexual orientation. He has also been an important ally in the fight to protect
transgender New Yorkers from discrimination in employment, housing and public
accommodations. The Empire State Pride Agenda whole-heartedly endorses Assemblyman
Jonathan Bing.”

In response to the strong support he has received from New York’s leading progressive
organizations, Assemblyman Bing stressed his unwavering commitment to continue working
with the state’s progressive leaders on the issues that matter most to New Yorkers. “I am
honored to have the support of NARAL Pro-Choice NY, the Empire State Pride Agenda, and the
New York League of Conservation Voters. In the Assembly, I have led the fight to pass an Equal
Rights Amendment, establish marriage equality in New York, expand the protections for a
woman’s right to choose, improve our public transportation infrastructure, preserve the
environment, and reverse the worst environmental damages suffered by New Yorkers due to
years of neglectful policy. I look forward to continuing this fight on behalf of East Siders and all
New Yorkers.”

Jonathan Bing was elected to the New York State Assembly in 2002. A third-generation East
Sider, Democrat Jonathan Bing has been a leader in the fight to clean up state government,
enrich our public school curriculums with arts education, and expand access to more affordable
healthcare. He is running for re-election in the 73rd District for the New York State Assembly so
that he can continue to stand up for East Side families and effectively tackle the unique
challenges facing our community. For more information, please visit www.JonathanBing.com.
