1.3 Procedure for Ship Berthing Loading Test

Prepare the recording displacement instrument
Then place the instrument in the designated place
The ship which has been decided for testing is prepared
And then berthed on the designated area as referred for testing (the berthing
angle, velocity, etc.)
With the displacement happened due to impact when the ship berthed, the
displacement will be recorded on the displacement recording instrument
Check the displacement is happening, whether it was in accordance with the
design criteria

horizontal deflection is H/300 with maximum of 100 mm. H is height of structure
that calculated from deck of jetty to fixity level.

2.3 Method for Equipment Loading Test

There are 2 (two) alternative method to determine the deflection measurements on the
equipment loading test is:
A. Equipment Loading Test using waterpass + bar staff
Do the measurement of initial elevation for the beam and slab on the

designated area
Then the initial measurement is done, the truck which was placed on the area

where the testing will be done

Then another measurement will be redone on the elevation to the deflection

which was occurred due to the loadings

After that, the calculation will be done as the initial elevation minus with the

elevation after the deflection. The result is the deflection which is happened
B. Equipment Loading Test using Dial gauge
Dial gauge can be used as another method to measure the deflection. Procedure is
as follows:
The device will be put under the slabs or beams which will be tested with

support
And the measurement of deflection can be seen on the device while loading

occurs.
