Minutes from April Meeting

The meeting commenced at 7: 39 PM, with 16 members and 1 guest present. The minutes were read without errors. The
minutes were accepted by Dianne McParland, and seconded by Cindy Gallant.

TREASURER’S REPORT: Account is up to date, and all bills have been paid.

COMMUNICATIONS: Slate River Veterinary Services has sponsored us a bronze

sponsorship package! It is much appreciated and we give many thanks.

A member brought horse magazines and books to the meeting to give to
anyone who was interested. The remaining books and magazines he will donate to
the Murillo Library.
An email was received requesting horses to act as police horses in an Highway 588
upcoming movie that will be filmed in Thunder Bay. More details to follow.
Kathy got our gymkhanas publicized in the Sports section in the Chronicle Home of the
Journal. They will be printing our events only, not the results, at no cost. We will add Famous
the Chronicle Journal on our Sponsor board.
"STANLEY BURGER"
SPORTS: Everything is in order and ready to go.
Open 7 days a week
SHOW: The ribbons have been ordered and the show is all in order. 12 Noon to 1 a.m.
Kakabeka, Falls, ON
PUBLICITY: Absent.

YOUTH: T-shirts and hats are in and are selling.

OLD BUSINESS: Sunday, August 1, and Sunday, July 25, are the two days to qualify for the MBRA barrels. Previously, it was mentioned
that the barrels would be ran at the end of the day. However, this has changed and the regular LLHA gymkhana run will count as your
qualifying MBRA time.
LLHA has retired our kitchen trailer. OAS will now run their Suger Shack at all LLHA events. Since we do not have our kitchen,
OAS has lowered our fee to $100.00 arena rental per day for each event.

Kathy would like to make her own banner which is not a problem, we will put it up and take it down at each event. Every Sponsor
must have the same size banner.
LLHA flags are still missing! We will ask Cindy again, but these flags are needed for our opening ceremonies on May 30th. If
anyone thinks they may have them, it would be much appreciated if they could take a minute to look for them.

NEW BUSINESS: Bill has been doing well at the BBQs. We would like to thank Double D and Thunder Bay Feeds for their
support and for helping us advertise. He also thanks all who have come out and volunteered their time. Although the
Volunteers we have are fantastic, they are becoming a bit overwhelmed and are burning out. We, the members make this club
whole, not solely a few individuals. We are trying to grow and move forward, but this is
impossible without the support from everyone! We are asking if you even have an hour to
spare, please come out and lend a helping hand…every minute, hour and gesture counts.
It would help greatly if even every member would do at least ONE morning, or afternoon.
Please don’t hesitate, if you can help your club by sparing some time please call Bill or
Alice at 577-0418. For more contact information please visit our website at
lakeheadlighthorseassociation.com, or email llha@live.com. Certified Horseman
LLHA is now accepting lead line during our gymkhanas for Youth Division and for Association
handicapped and disabled riders only. The rider can be lead through events with the
Level 2 English &
horse at any gait, and their time will qualify for high point.
Kay Cerven always ran stick horses between events and intermission and we Western Coach
would love to do that again. If anyone has any old stick horses they would like to donate,
we would appreciate it! Experience in Hunter,
All meat orders that were handed in at the April meeting must be picked up Western Pleasure,
Saturday May, 15th, between 10am and 1pm, at Tim’s Meats, 300 Empress Avenue South, Saddle Seat, Hunter
(807) 344-0056. All outstanding meat orders are due May 25th, and pick up date is June Over Fences, Gymkhana
19th. & Trail.
The barrel clinic this year has been cancelled due to not enough interest.
Perhaps we did not promote it in time, or we did not advertise it enough, but sadly we
have to cancel it this year. Kathy will look into bringing a barrel clinician in for next year.
Since we are not having a professional clinic this year, we started to look within our club. We have many skilled riders
and coaches, which we are certain we can put on our own clinics! Kathy and I, Terri-Lynn, are willing to donate our personal
grounds to hold these clinics. We also would love to set up a few dates with a few different coaches/trainers/members. These
clinics would be exclusive to members only and are open to Youth and Adults. Nothing has been arranged or planned yet for we
are waiting for some feedback. We need to know what areas/disciplines the majority is interested in. We also need to know,
what time of day members are available and if evenings are alright. Please send any thoughts, ideas, and suggestions to
llha@live.com. We hope to get these clinics started early before the season ends, so please don’t wait and contact us today!
The Arab Club is very appreciative to LLHA for allowing them to have their breed classes in the open show. To try to get
Arabs out, they have doubled the LLHA show points for their club year end awards.
The Arab club has different show rules than LLHA and they will discuss with Tammy regarding show rules.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:07 PM.
