Nomadic and enigmatic Belgium artist
1 ROA is part prolic street artist, part avid
naturalist and his aerosol work often
features animals endemic to the locations
he visits, like the giant native tuatara he has
painted here.
Be Free began making feminine and
2 mischievous street art using found objects,
12 stencils and aerosol art after moving to
Melbourne and becoming fascinated by the
13 artworks that were plastered and spayed on
its inner-city laneways.
This was the rst attempt at a major
3 urban mural by Dunedin artist Jon Thom,
who draws inspiration for his distinctive
monochromatic portraits in Dunedins
spectacular landscapes and dramatic weather.
Dunedin artists Sam Ovens and Andy
4 McCready created these retro, bookend
5 style pieces. Sam describes this piece as
his homage to loud music and psychedelic
imagery, while Andy has created one of her
signature coiffed ladies in her pop art styled
work. The two peices reect one another
through their mutual vibrant colour schemes
and pop culture references.
6 This colourful and exciting mural
collaboration on Water St was begun as
part of the rst Dunedin Street Art Festival
in 2014 and was completed early in 2015. It
demonstrates the unique style of eight local
and international street artists.
7 Mori waka and a steam-punk like
submarine (a reference to the incident where
a Japanese submarine was supported in the
Otago Harbour) emerge from a shs mouth
in this distinctive piece by Phlegm which
incorporates local history alongside his
distinctly fantastical style.
8 Local artist (and tattooist) Devon Smith
creates distinctive delicate sketches and
paintings, drawing inspiration from childrens
books, fairytales cartoons and comics.

9 piece entitled Unoccupied depicting a
suspended dress to reect the vacant status
of the historic building in the warehouse
precinct on which it was created.
Dunedin native Sean Duffells idiosyncratic

ora and fauna can be spotted in cities up
and down the length of the country, and he
is one of the most recognisable and prolic
street artists New Zealand has to offer.
Polish artist Natalia Raks mural entitled
11 Love is in the Air is characteristic of her
cheeky, playful and hyper-realistic style and
reects her passion for bold colours.
Riding Dreams by Pixel Pancho
14 demonstrates a complex interweaving of
the human form, ora, and metal to create
the surreal image of a not quite human boy
riding a fantastical metal horse reecting his
fascination with 1950s robots.
Argentinian street artist Hyuros two-storied
15 Bond Street mural reects her larger body of
work by speaking to both social norms and
the use of public space in the city.
This piece is a world rst collaboration by
16 Pixel Pancho and Phlegm and presents
the successful mixing of their own unique
style creating a surreal battle between Pixel
Panchos robots and Phlegms sloth-like
creatures.
Chinese artist DALeast represents New
17 Zealands extinct Haast Eagle and is
reective of his unique style which presents
the frenetic shape of animals and people as
if they have been constructed out of shards
of metal.
The vibrant horned skulls that guard what
18 used to be Glue Gallery were created by
Melbourne based artist Snotrag, who often
uses punk and tribal inspired aesthetic
to bring life to abandoned and derelict
buildings and spaces.

Song Bird Pipe Organ presents one of

created on a huge scale as demonstrated by
this gigantic piece created in 2015.
Local artist cooperative Stickum (Guy
22 Howard Smith and Aroha Novak) are
interested in bringing the history of Dunedin
vividly into the present with this colourful
mural which highlights the different cultures
and people which settled in Dunedin and
their strong ties to the land.
Australian street artist Fintan Magee has
23 redened the limits of street art by creating
gigantic murals in Australia and South
America that are regularly three-stories
high.Chasing the Thin White Cloud is his
largest work to date, and features three
local children.
British street artist and muralist Phlegm is
24 the inventor of fantastic and surreal beasties
with this mythical creature taking on New
Zealands Kkp-like features
Melbourne street artist Suki brings her
