largest and wealthiest city, following the discovery of

gold in Otago, and large investments in industry,
13 Railway Station (Anzac Square) shipping and commerce.

Many of the fine buildings that were built in the 1870s
and 1880s still remain, and are our legacy of those
adventurous days. Dunedin people are quietly proud
of their city, enjoying the life it offers today, and the
Heritage Walk Two breath of the past around us. These two Heritage Walks
offer the opportunity to see much of our Victorian past,
1 Trinity Church (cnr Stuart St & Moray Place) as well as changing skylines and unexpected views.
2 St Dominics Priory (cnr Smith & Tennyson Sts) Each walk is a little over two kilometres in length, and
3 St Josephs Cathedral (cnr Smith & Rattray Sts) should take less than an hour to complete. They are
4 Wains Hotel (Princes St) also part of the nation-wide Kiwi Walk network. The
routes are marked by bronze plaques in the footpath:
5 Grand Hotel (cnr High & Princes Sts) identified as Heritage Walk 1, and Heritage Walk 2.
6 Queens Building (Princes St) The arrows on each plaque are orientated to show the
7 Haynes Building (cnr Princes St & Moray Place) direction of travel. In addition, there are oval plaques
on many of the heritage buildings you pass on the way,
