(Tankage Is Therefore Intentionally
Oversized).
l High Flash Loss In Liquid Cylinder Filling
(Due To Heat Addition From Pumping And
The Atmosphere).

Trap Is Below The Pump
And At Higher Pressure
l Tankage is Composite Insulated For So That Gas Always Rises
30 - 70% More Thermal Efficiency
Than Current Tankage.
l Incorporates An Extended Leg Design
For An Elevated Tank. (Natural Sub-
Cooling)
l Both The Suction And Return Line Are
Enclosed In A Vacuum Insulated
Chamber For Minimal Heat Gain
l Can Be Used With The Same Pump
As With Classical System Or With
New High Efficiency Pumps.

Pump Prime
And Operation

l Liquid Flow From Pump Suction To Re-

circulation Is Low (1/10 to 1/4 gpm)
l Heat Is Added to The Liquid At The Pump
System Due To:
n Un-insulated Liquid Suction Line
n Increased Liquid Pressure
n Blow-By
l Pump Cavitation Will Occur If Heat
Addition Is Greater Than Available Sub-
Cooling
l Sub-Cooling Is Increased By Additional
Head Pressure Or Leg Extensions.
l Increasing Amounts Of Pressure (Heat)
Are Added As The Liquid Level Drops
Until Pumping Stops Or The Tank Vents

l Pump Cool Down
n Open The Pump Feed Valve (V-1) and Allow
Liquid Into The Line.
n Return Valve (V-2) Is Always Open (Except
To Isolate The Pump) So The Heated Liquid
Can Rise Back into The Tank To Start The
Siphon.
n Re-circulates Naturally At 4-5 GPM Which Is
Approximately 2 Times As Fast As The
Pump.
n Heat Is Absorbed By Large Mass Of Liquid At
The Bottom Of The Tank, Thereby Reducing
Pressure Rise As Compared To The
Classical System, Where Heat Gain Is Stored
In The Gas Phase.
n Results
n Pump Is Primed In 2 - 3 Minutes.

Pump Prime
And Operation
l Pump Suction Line Is Vacuum Insulated And Extended To
Reduce Heat Gain And Allow Natural Sub-Cooling.
l Liquid Flow In The Siphon Lines is 2 Times Greater Than The
Pump Requirements.
l The Excess Liquid Flow Pulls Blow-By Heat Away From The
Pump Inlet And Recycles The Heat In The Large Mass Of
Liquid In The Bottom Of The Tank.
l A Baffle Is Installed To Allow The Warm Return Liquid To Be
Fully Re-saturated Before Being Re-pumped.
l Pump Can Operate At Low Pressure (10 PSI) Without
Cavitation Until The Entire Tank Is Empty.

Advantages Over The Classical System

l Pump Start-Up Simpler, Faster, And More
Reliable.
l Pumping Consistency And Stability Of The
Siphon 100 Allows Automatic Start-Up and Shut
Down Of The Pumping System.
l Pressure Building Not Required During
Pumping Cycle.
l Pump Maintenance Cycle Is Longer Due to
Operation At Lower Pressures.

l Tank Can Be Pumped Completely Empty (Smaller

Tank Sizes Or Larger Working Inventories Are
Available.
l Warmer Return Liquid / Gas Returned To The Cold
Liquid In The Bottom Of The Tank Results In Heat
Distributed Throughout The Liquid. The Heat Is
Recycled, Not Stored In The Tank.
l Reduction Of Liquid Cylinder Flash Loss Due To
Substantially Low Operating Pressure (Less Heat).
l 175 PSI Tank Required Due To Lower Operating
Pressure.

Advantages Over European Thermal

Siphon Design
l MVE Composite Insulation Provides
The Best Thermal Efficiency And
Lowest Maintenance Cost versus
Perlite And Super Insulation.
l The Siphon Suction and Return Line
Extends From The Bottom Of The
Tank Allowing For Removal Of The
Entire Tanks Contents.
l The Siphon 100 Has Higher Trap
Pressures And Greater Velocity
Providing Lower Heat Gain Per Unit
Of Mass.
