1.0 INTRODUCTION

This method statement describes the procedure and inspection instructions to


be followed during the removal of fencing and concrete slab at the IGRF LOP.
This has to ensure that all activities are in full compliance with requirements of
working in a live operating plant

2.0 SCOPE

This method statement applies to all activities associated with concrete removal
at the Live Operating Plant with the use of excavator.

3.0 RESPONSIBILITIES
3.1 Foreman Coordinates day-to-day activities of direct labor and
responsible for the on-going quality and production at the work face.
3.2 Site Engineer Provide technical information and oversees activity
supervision.
3.3 Site Manager Manages and directs project construction activities
performed by the project team composed of personnel assigned by the
various functional departments.
3.4 QA/QC Manger Responsible for controlling and assuring that the
activities are carried out to the project specifications and drawings and in
compliance with specific MS and ITPs.
3.5 Project Manager Responsible for all activities and has ultimate
responsibility of compliance of work, to relevant methodologies,
standards, specifications listed, while assuring adequate organization
resources.

4.0 SAFETY
4.1 All relevant personnel shall be made familiar to this method statement.
4.2 All necessary precautions must be taken for working in a live operating
plant,
4.3 All related personnel must wear necessary PPEs.

5.0 WORK EXECUTION

5.1 SURVEY AND MARKING OUT OF THE PIPELINE


The surveyor shall mark out the pipeline route in to the LOP using a
visible spray paint to indicate area of excavation.
5.2 CITADEL MESH REMOVAL
The Citadel fence mesh shall be removed using hand tools, at the area
marked out by the surveyor.
5.3 REMOVAL OF THE FENCE COLOUMNS AND THE GROUND BEAMS
Sand bags shall be placed in the drainages before the fence up to the
existing ground level to enable the passage of the excavator from the
pipeline right of way.
The excavator now tracks across and positioned for operation.
The signaller shall then signal to the operator to project the excavator
bucket positioned appropriately at the base of the ground beam ready to
pull backward.
The excavator at the signal of the signaller shall then pull the ground
beam, and remove from base.

5.4 CONCRETE PAVEMENT REMOVAL


The excavator shall track in to the LOP and positions at the location
marked out by the surveyor.
Positioning the excavator bucket at the concrete pavement expansion
joint, place the bucket and pulls off concrete.
This is repeated at all concrete pavement expansion joints within the
area marked out by the surveyor, untill concrete within the entire marked
out area is removed.

5.5 DEBRIS /SPOIL REMOVAL


All spoils /debris generated in the course of this activity shall be removed
by the use of the Bob CAT, and Hillux 4WD to a place approved by
Client.

5.6 SITE REINSTATEMENT

The concrete pavement shall be replaced after pipeline works is


completed.
The Citadel fencing shall be replaced after all works in the LOP is
completed.
All areas damaged in the course of work shall be made good, and the
LOP reinstated.
