Thermo Orion dissolved oxygen probes are polarographic sensors designed for use with specific Thermo Orion 800 series Dissolved
Oxygen Meters. Accessory probes are often chosen to provide the convenience and flexibility of a specific cable length or
compatibility with accessories most appropriate for a particular application.

Use and Maintenance

All probes except the 081010 and 080510 are shipped with electrolyte, and are ready to use without further preparation. The 081010
and the 080510 are shipped dry and have to be filled with electrolyte solution before testing. The probe is continuously polarized
when connected to the instrument. Polarization for a new probe, or after the silver anode is cleaned, or when the probe has been
unplugged for more than an hour will take 25 to 50 minutes. Interrupted connections of less than an hour will take between 5 and 25
minutes
to repolarize.
Recommended maintenance intervals are shown on the chart above. Maintenance consists of cleaning the cathode and anode, and
replacing the electrolyte and membrane cap assembly.

Storage
For short term storage, overnight or between measurements, the probe should remain plugged into the meter, and kept in its
calibration sleeve, calibration beaker or instrument quiver with distilled water. For long-term storage, disconnect the probe from the
meter, remove the membrane cap, and clean and dry the probe.
