Dream Journal

Students will work to develop detailed writing through the examination of the
dreams they have while studying William Shakespeares historical tragedy, Julius
Caesar.

Assignment: Over the course for the final weeks of the 4th marking period, students will be
asked to record the dreams they have (a minimum of twice a week for a minimum of 8
entries). Student will create a final product that will present their dream journal. They will
have the choice of a digital storytelling, PowerPoint/Google Slides, Soundtrack, actual
journal, podcast, screencast, or a self-created product (must be approved by the teacher)
that will provide both written/verbal journals about the dreams/responses, an analysis of
the dreams/responses, and images that correspond to the journals.

Why: Dreams can provide the dreamer insight into what may motivate or hold back the
individual. There is objective and subjective analysis of the individuals hopes, fears, and
fantasies. Thus, remembering as many details as possible will help in the analysis or
interpretation of those dreams.

What do I do if I dont remember my dreams? While some may struggle to remember to

their dreams, the student may choose to respond to specific journal entries provided

in ghosts, spirits, or a higher power? What about ESP (Soothsayer), premonitions, horoscopes, and
superstitions? To what extent do you believe in these forms of supernatural occurrences?

world? Why?

loyalty were a factor in your relationships.

http://www.kheper.net/topics/typology/four_humours.html ) Based on the diagram, what is your
personality like? Use examples to justify your assessment.
6. Very often in Shakespeares plays every major character has a character flaw that prevents him/her from
being successful. Name and discuss the character flaws for the following characters: Caesar, Brutus, and
Cassius. Use evidence from the play to justify your answers. Name and discuss some of your personality
flaws, or at the very least, something about your personality that you would like to improve upon in order
to be successful in your life.
