EX01 to EX04 Competence Based Course

Installation Inspection and Maintenance of Electrical Equipment in Hazardous and

Potentially Explosive Environments.

Introduction:

This nationally recognised course provides competence based training and assessment for
electrical and instrumentation technicians working in hazardous areas in offshore and
onshore industrial environments. The facilities are unique and custom built to include a

Installation Engineering Industry Training Organisation (EIEITO) Nationally Approved
Competence based Training.

The Health and Safety Executive has supported the development of this programme.

Course Objectives:

The course aims to raise the awareness of operative competence in the installation and
maintenance of electrical equipment and apparatus in hazardous environments. It does
this by providing:

Training and assessment to allow operatives to meet National Competence Standards

A realistic simulated working environment in which training and assessment can take
place

Compex
Refresher

Introduction

This course is designed for staff who require a "Refresher" and "Update" in new standards
and who may have previously attended Hazardous Area Training. Any previous training will
have covered the 1st Edition of the EN500 series BS5501 for apparatus construction, the
Codes of Practice to BS5345 and IEC 79-17 in content.

At the outset a Formative Questionnaire will be used to identify the candidates current
