Botharegreatquestions,sohereyougo:

1. Everyone,regardlessofstoryorigin(season)hasthepossibilityofusingtheoptionspresentedinthe
SwordCoastAdventurersGuide.AddtheallowedportionsoftheSwordCoastAdventurersGuideto
thelistofallowedrulesforeverystoryorigin(seebelow).
2. IfyourcharacterpossessestheElementalEvilstoryorigin,however,youhaveonemorechoiceto
make.YourcharactermaychoosetouseeithertheElementalEvilPlayer'sCompanionORtheSword
CoastAdventurersGuideasasourcethatislegalforyourcharacter.ItisourintentthattheSword
CoastAdventurersGuidebeanevergreenoption,butforthoseseasonsinwhichansubstantive
additionalsourceisreleased(suchasoccurredfortheElementalEvilseason),ourplanisthat
characterswillchoosebetweentheSwordCoastAdventurersGuideandthatresourcewhen
determiningthelistoflegalsourcesfortheirstoryorigin(inadditiontowhateversourcesmightbeonthe
list).
3. Everyone,regardlessoflevelorstoryorigin,getsachancetorebuildtheircharacter.Effectivelythis
meansnothingchangesforcharactersunder5thlevel,butthoseover5thgetonechancetoinclude
SwordCoastAdventurersGuideoptionswiththeircharactersiftheysodesire.UsetherulesinPart1of
theD&DAdventurersLeaguePlayer'sGuideforthisrebuild,ignoringthelevellimit.Youmayusethis
rebuildopportunityevenifyoudonotchooseanyoptionsfromtheSwordCoastAdventurersGuide.
4. AllsidebarsandoptionalrulesintheSwordCoastAdventurersGuidearelegalforD&DAdventurers
Leagueplaywiththeexceptionsnotedbelow.
5. Thefollowingrulesoptionsareeithernotallowed,orarerestrictedinsomeway:
The"Winged"optiongrantingaflyspeedfortieflingsisnotlegalforD&DAdventurersLeagueplay.
 Cosmeticwingsfromthe"Appearance"optionthatdonotgrantaflyspeedarefine.
Racesorotheroptionsthatarementionedbutwhoserulesarefoundinanothersource(i.e.aasimar
orgenasi)donotbecomelegalwithoutothercampaigndocumentationunlessthatsourceisalso
legalforyourcharacter'sstoryorigin.
Elvencharactersmaychoosetoselectoneoftherareelf
subracesforroleplaypurposes.Therearenomechanicalbenefitsorhindrancesassociatedwith
choosingarareelfsubrace.
TheInheritorbackgroundrequiresadditionalguidance.Youmayrollontherandomtableprovided
intheSwordCoastAdventurersGuideasnormal,butifyoudecidetochooseyouritem,itmustbe
anonconsumableitemfoundinthePlayer'sHandbookworth75gporless.Whetheryouchooseto
rollrandomlyorpickyourinheritance,youmaychoosetohaveyourinheritancebeentirely
mundaneorpossessaminormagicalquirk.Ifyouwishyouritemtohaveminormagicquirk,you
maychoosetoeitherhaveyourinheritanceglowwiththelightofacandleoryoumayselectan
optionfromthe"WhatQuirkDoesItHave?"tablefoundintheDungeonMaster'sGuideto
determinewhatquirkitpossessesinstead. Also,underequipmentsubstitutethephraseany
itemswithwhichyouareproficientforanyonegamingsetormusicalinstrumentwithwhichyou
areproficient.
