Certificates
The following grades are shown on certificates:
We despatch certificates to centres by the dates shown in the Cambridge Administrative Guide for the March series. This is available on the exams officer
section of our website www.cie.org.uk/march
We produce an IGCSE certificate showing IGCSE grades and one GCE certificate showing the grades for all levels of the GCE exam: AS Level and A
Level.
We award an ICE certificate to candidates who have entered and met the requirements of ICE. All syllabuses used towards the calculation of the ICE are
reported on a separate IGCSE certificate where appropriate.
We award an AICE Diploma certificate to candidates who have fulfilled the requirements of the AICE Diploma. All syllabuses used towards the calculation
of the AICE Diploma are reported on a separate GCE certificate where appropriate.
The name of the centre does not appear on the certificate of private candidates.
Please let us know if any centre and/or candidate details are incorrect on your statements of results by
24 May 2017. We can then update our details so your certificates are correct. After 24 May 2017, we
charge a fee for all replacement certificates.
To qualify for the ICE award, candidates must achieve at least grade G(g) [or E(e) for GCE O Level syllabuses] in seven syllabuses as follows:
two syllabuses from Group I
one syllabus from each of Groups II, III, IV and V
a seventh syllabus from any of the IGCSE syllabus groups.
Candidates who meet the requirements of the ICE award will be awarded Distinction, merit or pass which will be determined as follows:
Distinction: grade A(a) or above in five syllabuses and grade C(c) or above in two syllabuses.
Merit: grade C(c) or above in five syllabuses and grade F(f) or above in two syllabuses.
Pass: grade G(g) or above in seven syllabuses from the prescribed syllabus groups.
Where a candidate has taken more than the required seven syllabuses, the award is determined by their seven best results irrespective of groups or whether
the syllabuses are IGCSE or GCE O Level, providing they have met the requirements of ICE. If a candidate fails to meet the requirements of ICE their grades
will be reported on an IGCSE or GCE O Level certificate.
Candidates who achieve ICE over two exam series will receive:
a statement of results for the individual syllabuses taken at the end of the first series
an IGCSE certificate and a GCE certificate as appropriate for the individual syllabuses taken at the end of the first series
an ICE statement of results in the second series
an IGCSE and a GCE certificate as appropriate for the individual syllabuses taken in the second series
a separate ICE certificate at the end of the second series.
The ICE certificate shows the level of the ICE award achieved and will not list the individual contributing syllabuses.
Candidates who meet the requirements of the AICE Diploma will be awarded a pass, merit or distinction.
We allocate candidates points for each syllabus they use towards the diploma depending on the grades they achieved.
