Narrative Description of the Activity First Activity: Weeding and Cleaning Activity at Tublay Central On June 26, 2017,
we conducted a weeding and
cleaning activity at Barangay Tublay Central. This was headed and supervised by Mr (complete name), (position or work). Filled with gladness, excitement, and willingness to help, we arrived at the said barangay at around 8:30 in the morning with our own tools like shovels, bolos, and grab hoes. Before the activity, we are all gathered including the barangay officials and other volunteers for a short introduction of the objective of cleaning and planting trees in the communal forest. Mr (last name) mentioned that the activity was part of the celebration of World Environment Day/ Month with the theme Connecting People to Nature. After that, we were divided into two groups wherein we are assigned in cleaning and removing weeds while the other group planted trees in those vacant areas. As expected, we all worked hard removing those weeds, cleaning those rotten branches of trees and many more. Some of the boys also made field traps that also serve as pathways and canals. After working for more than 3 hours, we went back to the barangay hall to have our lunch. Considering the time for our travel going back to La Trinidad, Mr (last name) decided to have a closing program to express his thanksgiving and to give some announcements. As part of the activity, he explained the importance of loving, protecting, and preserving the nature. Maintaining our environment clean, planting those trees, and keeping the forest safe is a way for us to help our children and to show them that they must care for the nature. This are some of the important points that Mr (last name) and the barangay officials discussed during the program. To celebrate the success of the activity and as a sign of our love for the nature, we ended it with a picture taking. Second Activity: Tree Planting at Barangay Ambongdolan, Tublay The tree planting activity was conducted at Barangay Ambongdolan, Tublay on July 8, 2017. This was the second activity that we have joined and it serves as a continuation of the first one. We arrived there at around 8:50 in the morning and went directly to the working site. Some of the people there have already started working so we joined them immediately. Three men had been assigned to haul fertilizers (Compost) while the others started to dig holes, remove weeds, and get seedlings from the nursery. While waiting for the three men, the ladies distributed those coffee seedlings in each of the holes. As the fertilizers arrived, some of us started to put it into those holes and proceed immediately with planting. The work then continues until 10 oclock. After having our merienda, half of the group had been assigned to plant gingers near the Barangay Nursery while the others remained in their work. When the first group finished their work, we were gathered again to carry our bags and to bring some seedlings to be planted on the other part of the forest. While climbing the forest, we planted those seedlings along the way. At around 12:35 in the afternoon, we went back to the barangay hall for our lunch.
