Public corruption is generally viewed as an obstacle to the development of a

country. Many governments, international organizations, and aid agencies as well as

donor-states have special agendas to fight the problem. Yet in the countries with high

levels of corruption, arguments have been made that because corruption is pervasive, it

has to have some benefit. While definitely not something to be proud of, public

corruption is seen as an unavoidable side effect of development. When defining

corruption it is sought out to mean dishonest or fraudulent conduct by those in power,

typically involving some form of bribery.

Corruption is seen throughout the world as an issue which effects people in all

areas of the economy. For example; an on duty police officer paying or getting paid by a

prostitute for sex would benefit the both of them. This wrongdoing does several things, it

benefits the officer by pleasing him sexually, he gains monetary value from the prostitute

and she gets off by not going to jail. This will not only allow for this legal crime to

continue but the prostitute is also put at risk of getting raped or killed. Officers are to

serve and protect, not bribe and be dishonest while wearing their badge, officers have

high standards to uphold from both the public and their agency.

Noted in the iDebate message board Corruption is a Western concept and is not

applicable to traditional societies, where corruption does not have such a negative

meaning. Many traditional societies with a gift culture have a different understanding of

civil responsibilities and etiquette. The social structure and political traditions of many

countries are based on the beneficial exchange of rewards for services rendered, and

cannot survive in its absence (iDebate.org). Endowment giving is a part of negotiations

and relationship building in some parts of the world. It is two-faced for the west to target
creating nations for this same number of supposed majority rules systems are pitifully

traded off by business enthusiasm through political financing and campaigning.

In distinctive societies the lines between the satisfactory and inadmissible are

drawn in an unexpected way. On the other hand, there are cutoff points in all social

orders, past which an activity gets to be degenerate and inadmissible. The misuse of

force for private addition and the siphoning off of open or basic assets to private pockets

ought to be illicit and unsuitable in all societies and social orders. When government

officials are called to raise money, they contribute tremendous wholes to make people in

general accept on their liberality. 0n the other hand, they do this with the expectation of

winning credibility from the general Public or population.

The commitments they make are from people in general trusts. The deceitful

authorities masquerade corruption to show up like it is a gifts theyre giving out while it is

open cash they are utilizing which is misappropriation of open stores adding up to

defilement. They utilize the blessing offering conventions to deceive general society, get

their backing and through defilement they find themselves able to remain in office.

Taking advantage of people in order to get what you want is never a good way of going

about things. So gift-giving traditions being used by unscrupulous officials as a way to

take advantage of people in the name of tradition is outrageously wrong and I am

against it.
