A theodolite is the most precise instrument designed for the measurement of horizontal and
vertical angles. Theodolite may classified into two classes:
1. Transit theodolite
2. Non-transit theodolite
Fly leveling is a leveling which is done to find by how much the line of sight is above the benchmark
and to ascertained by how is the next point above or below the line of sight.
A level was set up approxiametly midway between the benchmark and the point, whose elevation
was to be found by direct leveling. A back sight was taken on the rod held at the benchmark.
Plane tabling is one of the methods of surveying in which field observation and plotting are done
simultaneously. It is commonly employed for small and medium scale mapping of comparatively large
areas where great accuracy is not the main consideration. It is less costly than theodolite survey. It is
particularly advantageous in magnetic areas. It is not suitable for work in a wet climate. In plane table
surveying, the equipment essentially consists of a drawing board mounted on a tripod and a straight e

INTRODUCTION OF CONTOURING
A contour or contour line maybe defined as a line joining the points having the same elevation
above the datum surface. The process of tracing contour lines on the surface of the earth is called
