Concept and functional scope

The EWM Warhouse Monitor (/SCWM/MON) is extended with new nodes and methods
that will improve and support your daily warehouse operations.

This consulting solution consists of 7 independent extensions:

Extension 1: New methods to perform stock type postings in node Physical Stock
Extension 2: Extended view for node Pack Proposal of Warehouse Orders
Extension 3: New nodes top WO and sub WO for pick, pack and pass Warehouse
Orders (WO)
Extension 4: View extensive status information in enhanced node Wave for regular or 2-
step waves, also by product
Extension 5: Cancel picking and release stock using new methods for node Handling Unit
Extension 6: Select and display logs in the new node Application Log
Extension 7: Select and display Stock by Activity and Activity Area in a new node

Extension 1: Change Stock Type for multiple items

With the new monitor methods Change to blocked stock, Change to unrestricted
stock or Change to quality stock a user can do one or several posting changes with
regards to stock type within the existing monitor node Physical Stock. A user can e.g.
post in one go all stock for one product into quality stock (Q4) or vice-versa (F2).
All postings are forwarded to ERP.

Extension 2: Show HU-Data for Packing Proposal (1)

In case a Pick-Handling-Unit is created and assigned to a warehouse order the

standard monitoring view Packing Proposal only shows the Handling Unit
number and the packaging material:

The consulting solution extends the standard packing proposal view by

additional Handling Unit information:

Extension 2: Show HU-Data for Packing Proposal (2)

All Packing Proposal Nodes are enhanced.

Extension 3: Pick Pack and Pass Monitoring (1) - Motivation

Pick Pack and Pass can be used to pick into one Handling Unit across several
activity areas, passing the Handling Unit from one activity area to another. In
that case the system creates one Warehouse Order per activity area and
assigns all these (sub) Warehouse Orders to a Top Warehouse Order which
reflects the Handling Unit to be picked.
In the standard monitor there is no view on this hierarchical structure of Top and
Sub Warehouse Orders available. In addition there is no simple or fast way to
navigate from a Top Warehouse Order to its Sub warehouse Orders yet.
In a Pick Pack and Pass scenario these views and navigation options are very
helpful for monitoring and analysis.

Extension 3: Pick Pack and Pass Monitoring (2)

Allow to navigate from a Top Warehouse Order

to its Sub Warehouse Orders and then to the
Warehouse tasks ...
... Or from a Sub Warehouse Order to its Top
Warehouse Order and then show the Packing
Proposal or all the Sub Warehouse Orders with
its Warehouse tasks

Extension 3: Pick Pack and Pass Monitoring (3)

Show Top Warehouse Orders also for Outbound Deliveries or Waves

Then allow to navigate to Sub Warehouse Orders and Warehouse Tasks or to
the Packing Proposal

Extension 4: Wave Status Monitoring (1) new status fields

The Wave node is enhanced by information on the overall picking status of the wave
Picking open: Warehouse Tasks are not created (grey icon)
Picking released: Warehouse Tasks are created (yellow icon)
Picking done: All wave items are completly picked (green icon)

For waves with 2-step picking the status can be shown for the removal step (withdrawal)
as well as for the picking (allocation) step.

Extension 4: Wave Status Monitoring (2) new summary fields

The Wave Progress can be shown for the picking and the removal step by displaying
number of open, confirmed and total Warehouse Tasks

open, confirmed and total Weight

open, confirmed and total Volume
open, confirmed and total Quantity (in case it is possible to sum up quantities across
products, e.g. same unit of measure)

2011 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 14

Extension 4: Wave Status Monitoring (3) picking progress by product

A new node is introduced to show the picking progress per wave and product.
By product you can show the picking progress for the removal step and for the
picking step. In addition you can drill down to display the
removal Warhouse Tasks for a product
picking Warehouse Tasks for a product
the Wave items for a product

Extension 4: Wave Status Monitoring (4) Restrictions

The status evaluation may influence the performance of your wave monitor
node.
You can choose between new wave-nodes or update of the existing wave-
nodes.
In case you do not use 2-step picking, you can hide the specific fields for the
removal step.

Extension 5: Cancel Picking Business Scenarios

Cancel picking is required in the goods issue process if there are problems
with already picked items.

The cancel picking extensions enables a user in the Warehouse Monitor to

easily release already picked stock in a pick HU and
to move the HU to a special bin for problem handling.

The original outbound delivery order is open for picking again after the stock
has been released.
Note: Similar functionality is available in transaction /SCWM/CANCPICK.

Extension 5: Cancel Picking - Content

The extension Cancel Picking includes 3 new methods that can be found in a
HU-node:
1. Cancel Picking
2. Cancel Picking & Move HU
3. Move HU

2011 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 18

Extension 5: Cancel Picking - Methods

The method Cancel Picking...

releases the picked stock from the outbound delivery order.
Picking can be repeated for the outbound delivery order.
The released stock in the HU stays on the actual bin (e.g GI-Zone).

The method Move HU...

creates a HU Warehouse Task for a HU to move the HU to another bin

The method Cancel Picking & Move HU...

combines the methods Cancel Picking and Move HU.
Stock release and HU movement to a clearing bin can be done in one step.

2011 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 19

Extension 5: Cancel Picking How to Use I

The Cancel Picking methods are available for all HU nodes in the warehouse
monitor...

2011 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 20

Extension 5: Cancel Picking How to Use II

The stock release takes place in background.

A Pop-Up is used for the HU movements to enter the required
data for the movement:
Warehouse process type
Destination bin
Immediate confirmation flag
Storage control relevance

Its also possible to define default values for these parameters in master
data table.

2011 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 21

Extension 5: Cancel Picking Results

Picking status of the outbound delivery

after cancel picking: Not started

Stock within the HU has lost the

delivery reference and was posted to
the given destination storage bin.

A detailed log is written for the cancel picking process in the monitor (Tx. SLG1).

Extension 6: Display Application Log

With this consulting solution a user can search and display application logs in
an convenient way within the EWM Warehouse Monitor.
The new node Application Log can be preconfigured to access e.g.
Warehouse Task or Wave logs.
Users do not need to have access to transaction SLG1 anymore.

2011 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 23

Extension 7: Stock Overview by Activity Area (1)

The current Activity Area is of particular interest for example in a Pick, Pack
and Pass scenario or in an automated MFS warehouse. Therefore a new
monitor node allows you to select stock by Activity Area and Activity.

2011 SAP AG. All rights reserved. 24

Extension 7: Stock Overview by Activity Area (2)

The consulting solution enables a selection by Activity Area and Activity and
shows those two fields in addition to the Standard Stock Overview fields.
