Take the weight of the engine on the lifting tool.

Depending on the version, different lifting tools are used on the front of the engine.
A: Earlier version use 9990111 + 9990167.
B: Later version use 88800112.

Warning
The engine must not be lifted with the gearbox attached, as the lifting tool is not rated for heavier loads than the
engines weight.

Attach the engine. Fit the front engine mounting pad in the guiding pin. Tighten the front and rear attachments.
Note: Let the engine hang slightly (about 1 mm) above the rear engine mounting pads. Tighten the screws diagonally
to the torque specified in the Specifications Group 20.

Remove the lifting equipment.

Fit the gearbox. Refer to Gearbox, installation 43172-1 in Group 43.

Fit the power steering reservoir (18) and the gear selector cables. Pull the cover tightly over the controls. Fit the
electrical connectors to the cable channel
Fit the piping for the compressor relief discharge and suction (17).
Fit the fuel lines (15).
Fit the power steering servo pump suction hose (14).
Fit the hose to the exhaust pressure governor (13).

Fit the power steering servo pump pressure hose (12) by:

(A) fitting the locking clips

(B) pressing the hose into the pipe

Note: Check that the hose is secure by pulling it forwards and backwards.

Fit the fan shroud (7).

Fit the wiring and pre-heating element (6).
Fit the dipstick tube (16).
Fit the clamp for the upper intercooler hose (6).
Fit all the coolant hoses on the right side (4).
Fit the feed line to the air drier (9).
Fit the lower intercooler hose (10).
Fit the starter motor wiring (11).
Fit the shutter housing (8).
Fit the ground connection (3) to the rear engine mounting.
Fit the air filter housing (2). Do not forget the electrical connector.
Fit the inlet pipe (1) between the turbocharger and the air filter housing. Do not forget to connect the hose to the
compressor.
Fit the protection plate above the turbocharger.
Fit the noise insulation panels on the top of the frame on the right and left sides, and behind the air filter housing.

Fill the power steering servo reservoir with oil.

Fill with coolant.
In the case of a new or overhauled engine, fill with engine oil.

Bleed the fuel system, refer to 23003-3 Fuel system, bleeding Group 23.

Start the engine and check for leakage. Also check the oil and fluid levels.

Delete any fault codes.
