1. Introduction:
Today there is a high focus on EHS in the construction industry. Many
companies have recognized that the EHS & well being of their workers &
fellow Human Beings deserve the highest priority.
To reiterate the message that one must employ safe practices in the work
place must not be dismissed even the most intelligent people can have serious
accidents if they have not properly trained or if they do not have appropriate
level of respect for the potential hazards at hand.

1.1 Administration of EHS Program:

Each member of the EHS committee is a EHS Officer with the responsibility of
implementing EHS procedures & encouraging safe practices in these areas.

1.2 Assignment of Responsibility:


EHS is obviously everyone’s responsibility & in the end all personnel must work
in accordance with accepted safe practices & report any unsafe conditions.

1.3 Record of Accidents:


Reporting an accident has three important functions:
 It alerts supervisor or department head to accident. They in turn have the
responsibility of reporting accident to human resources for insurance coverage
&to comply with state regulations in cases involving workmen’ compensation.
 Reporting accidents to the Health Service minimizes the chance that apparently
minor injury might become aggravated.

1.4 Working Alone:


Working lone with hazardous materials or equipment in isolated areas is
recognized as fundamentally unsafe. It is the responsibility of each director of
a department head, or administrative unit to identify the hazardous or isolated
areas under his jurisdiction where working alone is not allowed. Where
Hazards are identified, every must be made o minimize or eliminate them.

2.1 Health & EHS Policy:


This policy recognizes that the health & EHS of all employees within the responsibility of
company management. In fulfilling this responsibility management has a duty to provide &
maintain so far as practicable a working environment that is safe & without risks to health. The
company policy is to assure its employees its employees preserve in all types of construction
works are protected from injury, whether they are minor or fatal on or off the job. Necessary
fund is supported by the company for EHS program expenditures. The company management
has long adopted & continues to believe that EHS is first & foremost & includes:

 Providing & Maintaining safe plant, system & work & access & egress from the
workplace.
 Maintaining the workplace in safe & healthy conditions.
 Provide adequate facilities to protect the welfare for all employees.
 Providing information, training & supervision for all employees enabling them to
work in a safe & healthy manner.
 Maintaining information & record relating to employees health & EHS be
followed in fulfilling the objectives of this policy, management is committed to
regular consultation with employees to ensure that the policy operates
effectively & that health & EHS issues are regularly reviewed.

2.2 Duties:
 Will observe, implement & fulfill its responsibilities under the Acts & Regulations
which apply to the construction industry.

 Will ensure that the agreed procedures for regular consultation between
management & those with designated & elected health & EHS responsibilities
are followed.

 Will make regular assessments of health & EHS performance & resources in Co-
Operation with those with designated & elected health & EHS functions.

 Will ensure that all specific policies operating within this company. Fire &
explosion, purchasing dangerous goods, noise, training, first aid & systems of
work are periodically revised & consistent with company health & EHS
functions.

 Will provide information, training & supervision for all employees in the correct
use plant, equipment & substances used throughout the company. (Company
procedures & Training arrangement to be followed).

 Must be informed of incidents & accidents occurring on the company premises


or to company to employees so that health & EHS performances can accurately
be gauged. (Company procedures to be followed in all instances).

2.3 Employees:
 Have a duty to take all reasonable practicable steps for their health & EHS & of
others affected by their action at work.
