Course outcomes
At the end of this course you will have a great understanding of how to use Autodesk Inventor
You will be able to confidently communicate with industry professionals and utilise their expertise to
achieve your prototype goals
Understand the practicality of outsourcing and learn local industry knowledge
Course content
Inventor fie handling and tool interface
2D sketching using parametrics
3D part modelling fundamentals, flat plate design
Revolved solids and shaft design
Sheet Metal design and flt pattern
Assembly creation and management
Detail drawings, general arrangements and conceptual imaging
Produce a dxf. fie for CNC machine outsourcing.
CNC JOB REQUIRMENTS
To be considered, the applicants must have:
Previous CNC machining experience.
Previous experience in Okuma and Moriseiki controllers would be an advantage
Experience reading an interpreting blueprints, sketches, drawings and manuals to determine
dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces.
Use of measuring equipment, verniers, micrometers, bore gauges etc
Milling experience and techniques, tool selection and formulas a must
Ability to work unsupervised
Keen attention to detail and problem solving skills
Must be reliable and punctual
Fantastic attitude
Trade qualified machinist.
Extensive CNC experience. (Okuma preferred)
Experience on manual lathe and manual turning operations (screw cutting, boring, grooving etc.)
Great eye for detail and commitment to quality.
Able to work unsupervised but also be a team player.
CNC milling experience also an advantage.

In this role you will be:


Operating CNC(Haas experience highly regarded)
Milling and Lathe work
Working to production schedule requirements
Reading from engineering drawings
Assisting in other areas of the factory when required

To be successful in this role you will need:


Experience with setting and operating CNC lathes(live tooling preferred)
Experience with setting and operating CNC milling machines
Ability to interpret engineering drawings
Self motivated and reliable
Be able to work both as part of a team and autonomously
Requirements of the role:
Trade qualified machinist.
Extensive CNC experience. (Okuma preferred)

RIMT
1 Identify basic NC/CNC
machine program elements
1.1 Appropriate program elements are selected for machine controller.
2 Write basic NC/CNC machine program
2.1 Engineering drawings are understood and interpreted to define machine function and tool path geometry.
2.2 Coordinates calculated as required for tool path or machine functions.
2.3 Advanced operations using canned cycles and subroutines are selected and applied appropriately.
2.4 Program is written in standard code format in accordance with standard operating procedures.
3 Write NC/CNC operation sheet
3.1 Operation sheets are produced to specification in accordance with standard operating procedures which
includes appropriate Australian standard where required.
4 Trial program 4.1 Machine is operated in manual mode to test and prove program.
4.2 Program is edited if necessary to adjust operation.
4.3 Components are checked to conform to specification.
