SLCCs learning outcomes: This course has assisted me immensely with my ability to

speak in spanish, and has risen my awareness of what I need to perfect on when

communicating with others in spanish.

The presentation assignment was probably the most interesting one, number one

reason being: that it forces students to step out of their comfort zone, which I think is

probably more effective, especially if you have students engaging with one another.

The assignment for me was a personal one, as a first generation citizen who has seen

the lack of opportunities and the systemic issues that persist in our social and political

apparatus. Has allowed me the chance to talk about Berta Caceres, and to be given this

opportunity to share her story and of the indigenous population whose way of living is

under threat; due to corporations and government is a blessing. This story isnt new but

it is emblematic of what is happening to the indigenous community and those who grow

up in developing countries.

The growth that have experience in this class is something that I hope to return back to

my community, to make sure that every kid regardless of their appearance (clothes or

otherwise), class, race, etc. has the opportunity to succeed in whatever they desire. The

future is bright as long as we believe in humanity and award them equal access to

opportunity and technology to contribute back to society.
