Position: Golf Course Superintendent
I am in the third year at this public 18-hole course. I manage a 10-person maintenance
crew and the maintenance department budget, which I wrote and had approved, is $150K.
> 12 of the 19 greens suffered extreme damage coming out of the 2007 winter, and
the most noticeable success was bringing those back to playable conditions without a
bentgrass nursery in place and irrigation water sodium levels extremely high.
> Through an aggressive interseeding and sodding program, fairway conditions have
improved.
> An increased aeration program of all critical areas of play was initiated to promote
filtration.
> A regimented topdressing program and critical changes with respect to the greens
fertility program were made based on soil and tissue sampling results.

Minnesota, I encouraged changes such as utilizing vibratory rollers, initiating a

light topdressing program for the greens, adjusting the fertility and pesticide
programs per sampling results and began utilizing walk mowers on the greens
 I became familiar with an aged hydraulic/electric irrigation system and to utilize
Toro’s Osmac irrigation control software
 We initiated an inter-seeding program to improve fairway playing conditions
 Membership and the number of events increased during my time at WCC

A private 18-hole private facility with a driving range, iron range, swimming pool and
tennis courts. I directed 14 seasonal and 2 full time employees and a $250K budget to
work with
 I encouraged improvement of poor drainage areas on the course which included
the planning and ultimate renovation of two holes and the driving range
 We completed several construction projects including new teeing areas
lengthening and reconfiguring certain holes and added numerous flowerbeds
 I encouraged interseeding with varieties of “low mow” bentgrass, regimented
topdressing and rolling programs to improve greens quality and increased speed
