Course Description

This course introduces basic features of the function by extending students experiences
with quadratic relations. It focuses on quadratic, trigonometric, and exponential functions
and their use in modeling real-world situations. Students will represent functions
numerically, graphically, and algebraically; simplify expressions; solve equations; and
solve problems relating to applications. Students will reason mathematically and
communicate their thinking as they solve multi-step problems.

Prerequisite: MPM2D grade 10 Academic , MFM2P- grade 10 Applied

Academic Honesty
Students are expected to be academically honest and submit their own work, so that
the mark received reflects their own academic achievement. Plagiarism and cheating
are very serious offences and will be dealt with according to school policy. It may result
in a mark of zero and/or a suspension from school. Academic dishonesty is a more
serious offence and will almost always result in removal from the course. IT IS CRITICAL
THAT YOU ARE THE ONE COMPLETING ALL COURSE WORK AND EVALUATIONS
(ASSIGNMENTS, QUIZZES, TEST etc). YOU MUST COMPLETE ALL QUIZZES AND TEST BY
YOURSELF. You can NOT complete quizzes and tests with anyone else, use the internet,
or have another person complete them for you. Assignment can be completed with
other students if you are the one doing the work and submitting the assignment. For

will be assessed in the four areas of the achievement chart. The chart below provides
percentages for each category.

Assessment Category Percentage

Knowledge and Understanding 30%

Thinking 25%

Communication 15%

Application 30%

The final grade will be determined as follows (in accordance with Ministry of Education
standards):
Term Work 70%
Based on evaluations from throughout the course

Summative Evaluation 30%

Due Dates

All assessments & evaluations are expected on the due date, however, they will be
also accepted up and until the ultimate due date. Due to the very tight e-Learning
summer calendar and the quick turnaround time to hand back assignments, no
work will be accepted after the ultimate due date time.

Attendance
e-summer school is very intense, and a lot of course material is covered every day. Attendance
is crucial for success. You must be able to dedicate 6 8 hrs per day in order to be successful. If
