Study on the Application of the Injectio

n Pump in the Low Normal Hydrophobic Mode


of 600MW Unit

Abstract:Zouxian Power Plant #6 unit No.6 LP normal hydrophobic ability is insufficient and acc
ompanied by pipeline vibration and abnormal sound, influencing the condenser pressure, drain pip
e inside the hammer or frequent water hammer impact pipe intensified wear on the inner wall of th
e pipeline, the impact of pressure piping safety. In order to solve the problem that the low pressure
heater of #6 machine with the level of water and pipe vibration and abnormal sound, in the origin
al low plus normal water jet pump, through the pressure of the condensate water to guide the low
pressure heater hydrophobic, improve the low pressure heater hydrophobic outlet pressure, comple
tely eliminate the water flow in the flow process of the pipe impact vibration of the defects, ensure
the safety and stability operation of the system.

1 Introduction
Under 400MV load conditions, No.6 LP hydrophobic in Zouxian Powder Plant found drain
blocking problems in recent years, critical hydrophobic was opened and decreased the thermal
economy of regenerative system , meanwhile in a 550MV load condition, voice of hammer
tamping inside the pipe can be heard clearly in drain pipeline and vibrated with it. As load
reduced, the differential pressure between No.6 and 7 was smaller , blocked the water diversion
and thus induced harder abnormal noise inside the pipe and vibrate more severely. On the
account of the smaller differential pressure among the adjacent stages of the LP hydrophobic,
normal hydrophobic was unachievable and only can rely on the critical hydrophobic mode. This
critical hydrophobic mode increased the emissions of heat, influenced the back pressure, occupied
the critical hydrophobic for a long time ,thus increased the risk of the operation. The tube inside
the pipe was frequently shocked by the steam or water hammer, and also frequently destroyed by
giant impulsive force increasing the abrasion of both lining and and tube, influenced the
operation security.

2 Analysis of causes of defects


When # 6 unit is in THA condition,No.6 LP hydrophobic can low gravity to No7 step by step.
When under the load condition of 75%,only parts of No.6 LP hydrophobic can low gravity to
No.7,but sometimes need to open an emergency hydrophobic.However,No.6 LP hydrophobic is
unable to low to No.7 when under the load condition of 50%,and the emergency hydrophobic
needs always opening.
Through the on-site investigation,the No.6 LP hydrophobic is added in the middle tier of 6.9
meters,B row side, and the No.7 is decorated in A row side of condenser s throat.The actual length
of them is about 140m,and there are 34 piping elbows,1 three-way pipe,and the diameter is
194,the diameter of branch is 133,6.5meters high.According this ,we can find the premise
of No.6 LP could hydrophobic normally to No.7 is the pressure differential between them is
0.145MPa at least.
When under the THA load condition,the hydrophobic pressure difference between No.6 LP
and No.7 is 0.167MPa , larger than 0.145MPa , hydrophobic pressure difference can overcome
resistance and drains along pipelines to achieve normal hydrophobic.

3 Solution and implementation process


It has two ways about the solution of No.6 LP hydrophobic with poor circulation:1.Raising
the differential pressure between the hydrophobic's inside and outside;2.Cutting back the
pipeline's resistance along the way and height. As for drain pipe's vibration for the #6
low-temperature heater it also has two solutions:1.Rais ing the undercooling of the hydrophobic,
which can make the temperature of #6 low-temperature heater`s outside hydrophobic lower than
the vaporization point as for as its can to remove the line's steam-liquid two-phase flow.
This topic's revolution is using inject pump to raise the pressure of this level's hydrophobic
from low-temperature heater, but the next level's parameters don't have change.So, from this can
remove the two-phase flow. Aimed at reducing the temperature of outlet hydrophobic which from
#6 low-temperature heater,we can using the condensate pump's outlet water as inject pump's driver
source .The inject pump's outlet pressure is 1.8MPa,the temperature is 37.The hydrophobic's
temperature is 90. Froming the effect of inject pump,hydrophobic's temperature has
reducing,pressure has rasing.The hydrophobic stay at supercooled state.The result is removing the
steam-liquid two-phase flow.
Froming the survey on site,we can found that the pipelines of No.6 LP hydrophobic have
many problems as for long strengthsmall caliber and high height.The optimization of line's
arrangement can reduce the resistance along the way and height,thereby, it also can reduce the
pressure's loss of hydrophobic and raise the hydrophobic's ability of anti-vaporization.

3.1 Design of LP hydrophobics thermal system traps with jet pump


No.6 LP hydrophobic remains original normal line and emergency hydrophobic line, lead the way by the
three-way through at the outlet of the No.6 LP hydrophobic, increasing the diameter from 194 to 273, reducing
pipe resistance along the way, No.6 LP hydrophobic check the door into the jet pump through pneumatic valve,
condensate pump export water from entering the pipe 57 * 4 jet ejector pump used to add a low plus
hydrophobicity, the hydrophobic after being ejected by high pressure low temperature condensate in injection
pump, lower the temperature 9 , the pressure increase 70-90kPa, before then through the pneumatic valve into
the original hydrophobic pipeline valves all original hydrophobic line set a pneumatic valve(As shown in Fig.1.

The degree of supercooling controlled by the injection pump is No.6 LP hydrophobic after
pressurized, jet and mixed by condensation water, simplified to No.6 plus exports and low
temperature difference between the jet pump outlet.
DCS were used to detect the temperature of two, will compare the difference with a set
value, lower than the set value, the electric actuator to open a large condensate nozzle opening,
increase the amount of water, on the other hand, off a small amount of water to reduce the degree
of opening of the nozzle.
The electric actuator controlled by 4-20mADC analog.
Pneumatic valves 1-4, all for the switching valve control signal access DCS, 5 Number
check valve, injector low hydrophobicity plus imports set backstop door.
Pneumatic valve 2-4 open and close synchronization, a pneumatic valve and pneumatic
valve opening and closing 2-4 contrary. Normal operation, the valve 1 closed, open valve 2-4;
accident conditions, valves 2-4 closed, open valve 1.
No.6 low water level plus the original system still hydrophobic regulating valve control,
level control mode unchanged.

3.2 Optimization of LP hydrophobic pipeline layout


Through the scene, No. 6 LP hydrophobic installed in the intermediate layer 6.9 m, B-side
row, and No. 7 LP hydrophobic is installed in the entrance of condenser which A side, actual
length of both pipes is 140m, 34 pipe elbows, one tee, diameter is 194, branch diameter is 133,
pipe climb further reduced twice. By optimizing the design of the entire pipeline will increase the
diameter of 194 to 273, LP hydrophobic Drainage outlet will not rise from 8.3m to 10.4m, but
fell from 8.3m to 6.4m platform, and then arranged a jet pump , then straight down through the
intermediate floor slab, reducing 11 elbows, reducing the length of pipe 20 meters (Fig. 2).

4 Analysis effect and benefit


The whole system was installed in March 2015 and the debugging was finished in early April,
it has been running safely for 8 months so far. The test showed that the unit is no longer open
critical drain under the load of 50%, 75% and THA, and the drain of No.6 LP hydrophobic passed
into NO.7 LP hydrophobic after injected by the jet pump; It could be indicated from the operating
data of the import and export pressure gauge of jet pump that the drain outlet pressure is higher
than that of the inlet pressure while the temperature drops, and the drain pipeline no longer has the
problem of vibration abnormal sound.
The perennial load condition of the unit was 65% with the drain flow rate of 88.8 t/h, the
pressure of 0.265 MPa and the drain enthalpy of 36.1 kJ/kg while the drain pressure of No.7 LP
hydrophobic was 0.07 MPa; The drain of No.6 LP hydrophobic passed through the critical drain
into the condenser before transformation, while it passed through No.7 and No.8 LP hydrophobic
into the condenser after transformation. It could be calculated by the equivalent enthalpy drop
method that the steam extraction of the seventh and eighth section were reduced by 4.35 t/h and
6.12 t/h with additional power of 386 kW and 167 kW, respectively, thus resulting in the
additional generating capacity of 3.04 million kW.h with the revenue of 1.277 million yuan
annually. The normal drain in No.6 LP hydrophobic hindered the drain with high heat from getting
into the condenser directly which reduced the thermal load of condenser, and it could effectively
decrease the back-pressure of condenser in the case of a certain amount of circulating water
cooling with 130 thousand yuan annually in earnings. It would have greater economic benefits
with the annual income of 1.407 million yuan after the transformation of the entire drainage
system.

5 Conclusion
Problems of drain in block and vibration abnormal sound in pipeline were fundamentally
solved by the fact that the normal drain in No.6 LP hydrophobic of #6 unit in Zouxian Powder
Plant was equipped with jet pump, which proved the feasibility of the application of jet pump in
drainage system of LP hydrophobic.Meanwhile, with the continuous improvement, it would
expand its scope of application and reduce the risk in the implementation process of the
technology, which would make it into an effective and reliable maintenance technology and that is
an important guiding significance for the solution of the similar problems.
