PARTICIPATING WINERIES
New York State wines have earned rave reviews
with so many wineries at the festival,
youre sure to find a new favorite!
21 BRIX WINERY is one of Lake Erie Wine Countrys newest. Doors opened in September 2011,
but thats not where everything began. Rewind back nine years ago when Kris Kane, a college
student, discussed with his parents Mike and Marion Jordan, his dream to open a winery. By
working summers on the family farm, he realized his true passion was in the vineyards. After
graduation, Kris worked for over 10 years gaining knowledge. Armed with Kris winemaking
experience, Mikes grape farming knowledge and Marions business skills, Kris dream became
reality. 716-792-2749, www.21brix.com.
Situated in a charming New England country setting in South Bristol, ARBOR HILL GRAPERY
& WINERY, is located at the southern end of Canandaigua Lake. Their grape growing tradition
began in the early 1900s, passing through four generations to current owners, John and Katie
Brahm. Arbor Hill specializes in eclectic varieties worthy of attention that exemplify the best of
the Finger Lakes viticulture region. 585-374-2870 www.thegrapery.com.
BROTHERHOOD WINERY the oldest winery in America has continuously operated since 1839
in Washingtonville. It began as a small, family-run operation producing wines primarily for
sacramental and medicinal purposes. Today they are one of the largest producers in the state
offering more than 100 wine brands. Brotherhoods premium varietal wines are not only leading
Northeast region wines, but the premium labels have also received domestic and international
recognition. 845-496-3661, www.brotherhood-winery.com.

vineyards and adding multiple dimensions to their wines. Damiani is committed to producing
bold and beautifully nuanced wines that evoke the terroir of the region with an old-world style.

heart of the Finger Lakes. Over 25 varieties of wine are produced and bottled on-site offering

Lake. Sitting up on a ridge, just south of Lodi, it has one of the best panoramic views along the
entire coastline of the lake. This is the second venture into the winery business for the Martin
family who started Montezuma Winery 12 years ago. Idol Ridge is home to a brand new line of

Located near the Lake Erie wine region in Forestville, MERRITT ESTATE WINERY was one of
the first farm wineries started in Chautauqua County, though the family estate and its original
homestead, dates back to the late 1800s. In 1976 William T. Merritt turned the estate into a
full-functioning winery. In 1998 Jason C. Merritt joined his father and together they devote all
of their time and energy to their small winery, producing more than 27 award-winning wines.

For more than thirty years, George Martin has been a beekeeper. Along with his family, a honey
production and pollination business was built. In 1998 honey prices began dropping and the
family applied for a farm winery license in 1999 and commercial production of honey wine
began. In 2001, the Martins realized the importance of their location (Seneca Falls) in the fruit
belt and tried making fruit wines. MONTEZUMA WINERY was formed. Although they produce
high quality grape wines, the focus of their product line is still towards fruit and honey wines.

SAVAGE WINERY started making wine as hobbyists several years ago. But when Woodcock
Brothers Brewery said they loved the wine and that they should sell it, the licensing process
began. About one year later, they were open! They remodeled the old milkhouse into the
production room and hand-built the tasting room addition. The winery is located in the rolling
hills of western New York in Chaffe, situated on a working alpaca farm along with some sheep
and a couple of miniature goats! 716-868-1245, www.savagewinery.com.
In September 2007, THREE BROTHERS WINERIES AND ESTATES opened their doors. Located
on the northeast edge of Seneca Lake, just outside of Geneva, their three unique wineries and
microbrewery are each within walking distance. Guests may leisurely tour the estate, enjoying
the settings of the uniquely themed tasting rooms. 315-585-4432, 3brotherswinery.com.
THOUSAND ISLANDS WINERY is the largest farm winery in northern New York, located
in Alexandria Bay along the majestic St. Lawrence River. This historic 40 acre farmstead,
established in 1836, was purchased in 2002 by Steve and Erika Conaway. The tasting room,
is housed in the original 1923 Sears & Roebuck barn. Learn the wine making process from

making fine varietal wines. Hogues passion for wines blossomed while living in the Franconian

History of YANCEYS FANCY

Following World War I, Leo Kutter emigrated

from Bavaria, Germany to New York, home
of North Americas first cheese factory. He
brought his cheesemaking knowledge and skill
to a small factory in Cowlesville, NY where he
made Limburger. Mr. Kutter made cheese in
Cowlesville from 1926 until World War II broke
out. The war left the area with too little milk for
cheesemaking, so Mr. Kutter had to wait until
the war ended before he could get back to his
trade.
In 1947, he built a new factory in Corfu and
