I attended a job fair at the University of Utah where I met your Assistant Branch Manager, Michael Scott,

who was seeking interns as well as another hard-working second Assistant Branch Manager, which

peaked my interest in your paper company. I have been looking for a long-term job experience in a

business setting as I continue to work on my Bachelors degree in Business Management. When talking

with Mr. Scott, we discussed the job tasks and what expectations you have for your employees working at

your paper company. I am currently working as an Accounting Clerk, where I am already surrounded by

paper, but I am seeking a job that will provide more work in Business Management as well as a higher

paying job, which was lightly mentioned by Mr. Scott. Through my current job, I have also worked with

other businesss that would be highly interested in what your paper company has to offer, which is a topic

we can cover when we can meet.

As Mr. Scott and I were discussing the job details, I learned that you were also seeking interns to expand

your company. I am currently attending University of Utahs Business school, which I plan to graduate

from this coming Fall. I have fellow peers that will still be attending the U, as well as graduating, and

looking for work experience. I think your company would be a great first, long-term step in a company to

learn about a paper company and business management. This would help the company spread the word

about your paper company, as well as spread amongst the University of Utahs Business school,

which can help expand your company.

Mr. Scott provided me with a business card to look at the job application online. Your requirements

ask applicants to have at least 3 years experience in both office-work and management. Despite my

resume showing that I dont have at least 3 years of experience, I am dedicated to my work and can

communicate effectively with others to learn any task given to me. I have experience working with

Excel and Dynamics, as well over-the-phone communication. My coursework at school has

prepared me to understand how a business manager should manage their company.

You would think a paper company would be a struggling business during this day and age as paper

is switching over to electronic-paper. However, from my experience, I have learned you can

always trust paper over technology, which can at times shut down. Talking with Mr. Scott, I also

learned about the passion your company has for not only your work, but for the value of your

1. Module 6: Environmental Justice Activist; Wangari Maathai [pg. 4]

I attended an Environmental Ethic at the Salt Lake Community College (SLCC) to better
understand the moral ethics we have discovered or self-discovered about our environment. In
this visual poster created in PowerPoint, I selected Wangari Maathai, an environmental activist,
to introduce to fellow peers why she is a powerful activist and what she has provided to the
environmental community. This poster was to visually attract peers to look at this piece and read
the short text to become interested themselves to look up more about Wangari Maathai, or
generally environmental science.

2. Project 1: Proposal for a Community; Dog Bite Awareness [pg. 5]

I had to create a proposal for a community, in this case my local communities, based on a
research I conducted on how to be aware of dog bites and how to prevent not only yourself from
dog bites, but preventing your dog from biting others in the community as well, understanding
the importance of both. Not only did I have to write a proposal to my teacher and peers, but I
also had to accompany document(s) with my proposal to alleviate the problem, to which I
decided to utilize a flyer that could be shared easily in the community.

3. Instructions; Instructions on How to Enter Data in Dynamics for Invoices [pg. 6-7]

Currently at my job at the Dialysis of Utah Accounting Services, I enter data daily into a
program called Dynamics, and had to create instructions on how to enter data when I first
started to ensure that I entered data correctly, and eventually timely. This also prepared the
program for future data entry clerks with instructions on how to enter data into dynamics. This
showed not only my floor managers that I could effectively create and give instructions, but it
also clarified for myself and helped me remember how to enter invoice data.

Proposal
Man & Mans Best Friends Safety
My proposal is to inform the public about dog safety and the right steps they can take to ensure
the safety of not only your dog, but for the safety of others in the surrounding local Salt Lake City
communities. Having your dog trained properly is important, and there are those out there who believe
that the basic commands like sit and stay is enough. It takes more to not only keep yourself and your
dog safe, but others you may interact with as well whether its other dogs, children, or adults.
I conducted research to better understand how dogs harm people, how a dog should be properly
trained to be in public, and what may cause a dog to protect themselves or their owners. Reading
through various study archives and articles online, I better understood how dog owners should take care
of their dogs to create the best safety sphere for everyone. Attached is a newsletter of dog safety and
different outlets to find dog training for you and your dog.

The Stakeholders
A dog is more than a pet. A dog is more than a friend. A dog is family, and protecting
ones family is of the highest priority. However, a dog isnt the only member of ones family, and you
arent the only family out there who wants to protect their own. Its hard to lose a member of your
family, but its especially when its not meant to happen so sudden. Its hard when you have to put
down a member of your family, whether its euthanizing mans best friend or a human life due to a fatal
dog bite. Even if someone doesnt die from a dog attack, a dog bite can cause infections or long-lasting
physical damages that often require plastic surgery.
Approximately 4.5 million dog bites occur each year in the United States. (Preventing Dog
Bites, cdc.gov) Over the last 12 years, 392 Americans died due to a fatal dog bite. (2016 Dog Bite
Fatalities, DogsBite.org) It is true that certain dog breeds are more susceptible to causing dog bites due
to common situations they are being used in, an example being a guard dog.

How to Enter into Dynamics Payables Batch Entry Page

1. Enter the Dynamics Program

a. Icon should be located on Desktop
2. Once the program is open, it should take you to the login page
a. User ID- First name only
b. Password- Enter your password
i. If password does not work, seek the floor manager
3. At the bottom left corner, change the date to the last day of the month you are entering
data in.
a. Ex. Entering data in May, change the date to 05/31/YY
4. Near the bottom left, there should be a tab labeled Purchasing. Click on this tab.
5. Near the top left, you should see a list listed under Transactions
a. The last item on the list should be Batches. Click on Batches.

1. A box labeled at the top Payables Batch Entry should pop up.
a. Enter information accordingly:
i. Batch ID [Month/YY, Data Code, MM/DD of Week].
1. Ex. MAY17 A01 0509
ii. Origin [Payables Trx Entry] (Always).
iii. Do not change the Frequency.
iv. Posting Date should be set to end of month date; if not set to end of month
date for the month you are entering, change to end of month.
1. Ex. Entering in May- 05/31/YY
v. Set Checkbook ID to according facility.
vi. Leave the two Control slots empty.
2. Select Transaction tab at bottom to enter into next part.
