DECIDING ON FACULTY COUNCIL
Need special education representative.
You want at least 1 representative from all grades that data is collected
from. Grades 3-5.
You need to communicate responsibilities to the faculty council when
inviting them to be a part of the council.
Set up initial meeting with the council to review the handbook and next
steps.
REQUIREMENTS FOR NEHS - begin with handbook
Alberta Smith Spring Run

Must be a 4th or 5th grade student. 4th grade student only

Cumulative grade point average of 3.5 for the Straight As in third grade all four quarters and
previous academic school year, with no Ds. all As or 1 B in fourth grade first quarter
5th grade student 4th grade average
Maintain a high attendance rate to school
4th grade student 3rd grade average
Got feedback from teachers of students who fit
Honor Roll all 4 marking periods. the criteria to see if they also displayed the core
values
Maintain a high attendance rate to school - 98%

Score on teacher rating rubric for character,


citizenship, service and leadership.

Top 98 or higher scoring students on the overall
rubric (using the above criteria)
Deciding on requirements with council
The council used National requirements and used requirements given us from
another Chesterfield county elementary schools to help guide our decision on
areas for our rubric to gain points and narrow nominations.

Using this we decided upon a points system and created a Google form for
teachers to fill out that would collect data for us.

Meeting to choose nominees
The council then met to go over all the collected data and vote on final
numbers and go over nominees.
Discussion about finalizing nominee acceptance letters and when to send
out.
We then discuss bylaws and set date to finalize them.
Decide on tasks to prepare for induction ceremony - invite guests, order
pins, food, certificates, etc.
