Kennedy International Airport (JFK) Police Department (PAPD), Delta Airlines (DALA) Summary: DALA Flight 415, from JFK to Las Vegas was delayed and searched, at the request of the Captain, after two male passengers decided not to fly and exited the aircraft prior to departing the gate. DALA ramp personnel conducted a search of the cabin and the JFK PAPD was summoned and conducted the search as well, using a K-9 unit, Details: On February 23, 2000, at approximately 0000 hours, JFK PAPD notified FAA that they were conducting a search of DALA Flight 415. DALA Flight 415 was scheduled to depart JFK, at approximately 2330 hours, destined to Las Vegas, Nevada, Further investigation revealed two male passengers on board flight 415, checked in at the gate during the last few minutes of the scheduled departure time and then exited just prior to departure. The Captain requested information on the two passengers. Alter determining the two passengers did not check any baggage for the fight, DALA ramp Personnel conducted a search of the cabin. Upon the completion of the search of the cabin, the Captain Fequested that JFK PAPD be notified and conduct a search of the aircraft with a K-9 unit. The aircraft was then taken to Hardstand 118, passengers were deplaned via DALA planemates, and JFK PAPD K-9 Rony and Police Officer Salvador, conducted a search of the cabin DALA Passenger Service Manager, Peter Gurle reported that upon exiting the aircraft, the two male Passengers were questioned by DALA personnel regarding their decision not to fly. Both passengers claimed that they had to report to work, Disposition: At approximately 0115 hours, JFK PAPD cleared DALA Flight 415 with negative results.
