CFA PILING TECHNIQUE

Miller Piling operate a large fleet of dedicated CFA rigs. Diameters range from 300mm up to 1000mm
and depths up to 28 metres can be achieved.

The CFA piles are installed through drilling a hollow stem

auger into the ground and once the design depth has been
reached as the auger is withdrawn concrete is pumped
through the hollow stem. Miller Piling ensures the highest
standard of pile construction which is assisted by on-board
computerised monitoring systems. A simple screen display
within the drivers cab shows the auger depth, speed of
rotation and rate of penetration. During the concreting stage,
diagrammatic presentation of pressures and volume ensures
adequate supply along the pile length.

A reinforcement cage is then placed into the fluid concrete

.
The CFA technique is appropriate for most ground conditions including soft rocks, but becomes
particularly economical in noncohesive sands, gravels or silts where otherwise long casings or drilling
fluids would be required or ground water is present.

Continuous Flight Auger (CFA) piles are suitable for most

construction projects. causing minimum disturbance, they
are ideal for noise and environmentally sensitive sites for
both load bearing piles and excavation support.

Key benefits of CFA piling:

Virtually vibration free suitable for piling close to neighbouring structures

Quietest form of piling
Suitable for most ground conditions
Rigs fully instrumented
Environmentally friendly
