| am writing to express my extreme disappointnent that you voted into law a bill hat denies its and
responsibilities to 18-year-old adult. LD 1170,"An Act To Reduce Youth Access to Tehacco Products,”
isa slap inthe face to I8-year-old adult Meiners.
Quit simpy, you ar hypocrites. You agree to try them a als ina cour of laws you ask them to vote
for you in our elestions; you make them pay taxes you say they can get maried and divorced and make
medical decisions for themselves, and you allow them to smoke “medica” marijuana. But now you say
they canot decide for themselves whether they want to buy cgareties.
‘You won't et military eerie into high schools, but you strap a gun to cur 18-year-old” backs nd
seni them off to fight America’s hatles—facing the possibility ofa gruesome death or grievous wounds
‘You make slaw preventing adults from purchasing cigaetes, which ae a legal product, but you are soft
‘on punisntent for adults who are selling the illegal and deadly poison tats killing one Maine a day.
1 age that smoking is dangerous to person's helt, and would never encourage anyone of any age to
smoke ciarefts, However, you cant have it both ways, By approving this law, you have denied the right
‘of Maines wi are legally considered adults to purchase product that is sold legally
‘Tis aw subverts the United States Constitution and attempts to “social engineet* legal behavior by
faults who want to use a egal product that you don't ike I'you don't believe 18-year-old ae adults
‘who ean make their own decisions, then I hope you wil suppor lelslaton that increases the voting age
to21 and prevents military service unis person turns 21
Sincerely,
