Chapter 2 Overview

alarm signals are generated during protection. Overvoltage protection is triggered

when the voltage is 440 V5 V.
The ZXD3000 rectifier turns off power output when the output PFC power
supply is under voltage, and restores after the output voltage operates properly.
Visible alarm signals are generated during protection. Undervoltage protection
is triggered when the voltage is 345 V5 V.
Input/Output fuse protection
When the input current increases due to internal faults, the input and output
terminals should be protected using fuses to avoid further faults. The fuses are
installed on both AC input L/N lines. Visible alarm signals are generated during
protection.
Overtemperature protection

When the environmental temperature rises to the overtemperature protection

threshold 75C, the ZXD3000 rectifier shuts down for protection. Visible alarm
signals are generated during protection. When the environmental temperature
decreases, the ZXD3000 rectifier automatically restores. The hysteresis for
restoration is 8C to 15C.
Overvoltage/Overcurrent protection for DC output power supply
When the output power supply is over voltage, the ZXD3000 rectifier
automatically shuts down for protection. It is not blocked. The output overvoltage
protection threshold can be set through the monitoring unit. The parameter value
is 56.5 V to 62 V. The difference is 1 V. Visible alarm signals are generated
during protection.
When the output current of the ZXD3000 rectifier is between 65 A and 75 A, the
ZXD3000 rectifier automatically shuts down and is blocked. It restores after the
AC power supply is disconnected and re-powers on. Visible alarm signals are
generated during protection.

Fan fault protection

When the fan is faulty, the fault indicator is lit. The ZXD3000 rectifier automatically
restores after the fault is eliminated.

l Output power limitation

The ZXD3000 rectifier limits output power based on the input power supply, output
power supply and environmental temperature.

l Overload protection
When the output power of the ZXD3000 rectifier exceeds the overload protection
threshold, the ZXD3000 rectifier automatically shuts down and is blocked. It restores
after the AC power supply is disconnected and re-powers on. Visible alarm signals
are generated during protection.
l Intelligent fan speed adjustment

current, and the alarm indicator is lit. When the voltage increases to the undervoltage
restoration threshold, the ZXD3000 rectifier automatically resumes operating properly.

The undervoltage protection threshold of the ZXD3000 rectifier is 80 V5 V, the hysteresis

voltage is 5 V to 12 V, and the undervoltage restoration threshold equals the undervoltage
protection threshold plus the hysteresis voltage.

Overvoltage Protection
When the AC input voltage is higher than the configured overvoltage protection threshold,
overvoltage protection is enabled. The ZXD3000 rectifier is shut down, there is no output
current, and the alarm indicator is lit. When the voltage decreases to the overvoltage
restoration threshold, the ZXD3000 rectifier automatically resumes operating properly.

The overvoltage protection threshold of the ZXD3000 rectifier is 300 V5 V, the hysteresis

l When the output voltage is between 41 V and 48 V, the output current is constant.
l When the output voltage is lower than 36 V, the ZXD3000 rectifier restarts for
protection.
If the ambient temperature is higher than 55 C, the ZXD3000 enters the power decrease
with high temperature mode. If the input voltage is lower than 176 V, the ZXD3000 enters
the input power limit mode. If both the input voltage and ambient temperature are high, the
maximum current limit threshold is further reduced. In that case, the maximum power and
maximum output current are simultaneously affected by the input voltage, output voltage,
and ambient temperature.

4.4 Power Decrease in High Temperature

When the ambient temperature exceeds the overtemperature threshold, the output power
of the ZXD3000 rectifier decreases with the rise in temperature.
Figure 4-3 shows the this feature of the ZXD3000 rectifier. For a description of this feature,
refer to Table 4-2.

7.2.2 Operation Indicator Flashing

You can locate system faults and troubleshoot the ZXD3000 rectifier according to the status
of the operation indicator.

Context
The operation indicator is flashing, which indicates that the ZXD3000 rectifier is in
current-limited status.

Steps
1. Check whether the power supply system is recharging. It is normal that the ZXD3000
rectifier is in current-limited status when the power supply system is recharging. No
action is required.
2. Check whether the input current is excessively large due to the loads. If the load
on a circuit is abnormal, turn off the output air circuit breaker or fuse of this circuit
immediately, locate the fault, and troubleshoot the ZXD3000 rectifier.
3. Check whether the environmental temperature is higher than 55 C.
If yes, the ZXD3000 rectifier must be derated. In this case, when the output voltage
reaches 48 V or lower, if the load exceeds the threshold, current limitation is triggered.
End of Steps

7.2.3 Operation Indicator Off

If the operation indicator is off, there is no output power from the ZXD3000 rectifier. It is
probably because the rectifier is in sleep mode or is faulty. Locate the fault and troubleshoot
the ZXD3000 rectifier.

Context
For a description of the relationship between the power indicator/operation indicator and
the system operating status, refer to Table 7-4.

Chapter 8
Operating Principle
Figure 8-1 shows how the ZXD3000 rectifier operates.

Figure 8-1 Operating Principle of the ZXD3000 Rectifier

The operating principle of the ZXD3000 rectifier is described as follows:

1. The AC input power supply is filtered by the EMI, and is then input to the PFC circuit
to make the AC input current sinusoidal, to improve the power factor. The PFC circuit
converts the AC power supply to DC power supply with a voltage of 410 V.
2. The rectified DC voltage is provided for the DC/DC conversion circuit. The input
voltage is isolated and lowered by the high-frequency transformer, and is converted
to low-voltage DC square waves. These waves pass the rectifier and filter, and stable
DC voltage (42 V to 59.5 V) is provided.
3. The signal sampling circuit transfers the temperature, current and voltage signals to
the control board. These signals pass the signal processing circuit on the control
board, and are converted to the voltage signals that can be identified by the DSP.
These voltage signals are then sent to the input and output interfaces of the DSP. The
DSP computes the PWM control signal of the switch tube, operating status signal, and
protection signal required by the rectifier.
4. The subsidiary power supply is equipped on the main board to provide electricity for
the internal components of the rectifier.
5. The monitoring unit inside the rectifier collects parameter data in real time, and display
the current operating status of the rectifier on an LCD screen. The rectifier transfers
operation data and alarm information to the monitoring unit of an external system
through the CAN bus bar. You can press the QUY button on the front panel to enter
the parameter setting menu and modify the address of the rectifier.
