National Broiler Market-At-A-Glance


Whole broiler/fryer prices are trending weak to lower. Offerings are available to at times heavy entering the weekend. Demand into food distributive services is
moderate to good. Floor stocks are generally in balance. Market activity is slow to moderate. In the parts complex, prices are trending steady to firm for dark meat
and steady to weak for white meat. Supplies of thighs and thigh meat are balanced and clearing well. Bone-in breasts are available and tenders are noted as
considerably more available than earlier in the week. Market activity for parts is slow to moderate. In production areas, live supplies are moderate at mostly
desirable weights.

Weekly Fryers Available For Marketing


Based on the preliminary chick placements, the number of fryers available
for marketing during the week ending 09-Sep-17 is estimated at 161.5 million
head. This compares to 160.9 million head the previous week and to 161.5
million head the same week a year ago, when the slaughter was 167.1
million head and the national weighted average price was 81.70 cents per
pound.
