A. Physical Level
The Prince and the Pauper is a story about two boys in 16th century England who were born
on the same day and look identical, but are not related to each other. One named Edward Tudor is
a prince, and the other named Tom Canty, is a pauper. Ten years later, Tom Canty Has grown into
a well-mannered child, so different from his peers and is highly intellect. Meanwhile, Edward
Tudor, the heir to the throne is being trained so early in his life and being taught on what to do and
One day, Tom sneaked in the palace garden to accomplish his dream which is to see a real-life
prince and he meets the one. When Edward let him in inside the palace they connected really fast
and shared their own experiences. At a later time, they decided to exchange their clothes, making
Edward Tudor look like Tom Canty and Tom Canty looking like the fine prince. The guards
discover them and throws out the prince by mistake since they are identical. Nobody believes them
when they try to tell the truth that the other is not the true prince/pauper. Soon after, the old king
dies and the prince will inherit the throne. The evil earl of Hertford attempts to murder the prince
The pauper exchanged clothes with the prince because he wants to know what it feels like
to be a prince, to be rich and famous and to be loved by people. The prince exchanged clothes with
the pauper because he wants to know what it feels like to be free. This gradually made Edward see
how the people in his kingdom are living and experiences how Tom lived in such a putrid place.
The prince in turn gets the beatings that Tom gets from his father and grandmother and tells
the that he is not Tom but instead the prince of Wales, but they didnt believe him, nobody did
since his resemblance with Tom Canty was so accurate that no one could tell them apart.
C. moral/ethical level
It is wrong for the prince and the pauper to exchange with each other because they need to
learn how to love their selves. They shouldnt have exchanged even though they wanted to have
what the other has. They thought at first that it will be fun to do, that it will be fun to experience
But the exchange went bonkers, they still shouldnt have exchanged because their lives
were so different, they didnt even examine the pros and cons on what could possibly happened.
They didnt know the bad things that the other manages to handle on a daily basis, All they know
is the positive things and disregarded other stuff to be considered like how people would possibly
treat them.
I think its destiny that put them on this situation. Edward Tudor wouldnt know how hard
his peoples lives are. Now he knows the problems he should solve when he becomes the king.
These experiences will make him a better king. Tom Canty learned a lot of things. He became
more confident of his self and learned how to solve the problems of others.
d. Psychological/ emotional level
The prince felt anger, regret and sadness because he thought that Tom was enjoying his life
as a prince and that Toms life was easy and not hard at all. He felt immense regret of exchanging
with each others identities because John Canty and the grandmother of Tom beat Tom on an
occasional basis and he gets beaten because he was mistaken to be Tom. He didnt know before
that being Tom was hard because he gets beaten by his father and grandmother and is
Edward Tudor and Tom Canty got to satisfy their curiosity to each others life. Edward
Tudor faced the consequences of being Tom Canty while Tom Canty enjoyed the privilege of

you are worthy of it. If you want to rise another level you should work hard for it.
