SFPs.

* Please note: despite the fact that L2P, L3E and L3P
are related to the firmware it is not possible to upgrade
lower level devices to a higher level, due to HW
differences.
The functionality of the firmware levels are shown in the
appendix.

MACH 4000 offers the possibility to install one power supply with Notes:
access from rear.
Alternatively power supplies can be installed in a separate
chassis M4-Power with access from front for exchange.
Connection of MACH 4000 is done at the back with special
power cords. Power and voltage like internal PSs.
The Power Supply Chassis M4-POWER is necessary for power
supply redundancy. Either the power supply installed in MACH
4000 can be protected by redundancy using M4-POWER or
MACH 4000 can be operated exclusively using M4-POWER.
Attention: Operation of MACH 4000 with other power supplies
than the defined internal and external ones is not permitted!
24 VDC, 48VDC, 110-240VDC supported by corresponding
internal power supplies:
M4-S-AC/DC 110-240VAC / 120-350VDC
M4-S DC 24V
M4-S DC 48V
and external power supplies within M4-POWER:
M4-P AC/DC 110-240VAC / 120-350VDC
M4-P DC 24V 943 876-001
M4-P DC 48V 943 877-001
with fail-over technology.
MICE Modular Industrial Communication Equipment
Modular design:

+ Head module
+ 4 sockets for up to 16 ports
+ Backplane extension board for up to 24 FE ports
Switch/router in backpanel

Voltage in: 24 VDC (18-32 VDC) optional redundant PS
2 indicator contacts
RS232 interface

DIP switches

CP3e_2_HW.926 2-6

The switching/routing hardware is inside the aluminum plate Notes:

which is used as heat sink.
The head module not really modular offers DIP switches
and sockets for power supply, serial interface and at the 2nd
generation USB.
The operating temperature range is 0 C ... 60 C
EEC products support -40 C till +70 C with conformal
coating
Two separate connectors for power supply and alarm relay
1st connector with power supply1 + Relay1
2nd connector with power supply2 + Relay2
advantage for the customer, although disconnect one
connector, the switch still works
Both alarm relays can be applied as digital outputs
Gigabit module extendable with GE SFPs, up to 4 optical
ports. 1 SFP deactivates 1TX port
Recommendation: all DIPs off for SW settings
(factory setting: RSTP on, HIPER Ring off)
Media modules are available for twisted pair with RJ45 or
M12, for AUI and for F/O with DSC, MTRJ, SFP with LC and
BFOC at 10 Mbit ports.

MACH 4000 and PowerMICE are available with Firmware Notes:

packets L2P, L3E or L3P. These packets require different
hardware. Therefore an upgrade from L2P to L3 or from
L3E to L3P is not possible.
The functionality of L2P also part of L3 packets are
trained in course CP1 Industrial Switching. Course CP3
focuses on L3 functionality.

Gigabit devices to protect old investments, but its more
expensive than M4-GIGA and it cannot provide Gigabit.

The compatibility can be summed up with one sentence:

Gigabit MACHs support FAST and GIGA SFPs while
MACH 4002 48+4G supports only GIGA SFPs in its Combo
ports and only FAST SFPs in its modules.

Please note that the listed functions are additionally in L3E Notes:
to the already contained functions of L2P.

MACH 4000 and PowerMICE support VRRP and HiVRRP

for router redundancy as well as Proxy-ARP.
Please note that HiVRRP is not compatible with MACH
3000s HiRRP!

With DSCP Marking the first router analyses the packet and
changes its DSCP/TOS field, all following routers evaluate
the field only.
Per ACLs packets can be assigned to a queue, and as of
SW 2.0.0 also the tags are changed correspondingly.
ACLs currently have effect on incoming traffic only.
Please note, that at all ACLs the last rule Deny all is
invisible already implicit available.
Dont cut the branch you are sitting on!
To avoid misapplication VLAN interfaces support only
Independent VLAN Learning, but not Shared VLAN
Learning.
