TWENTIETH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME AUGUST 20, 2017

This is my commandment: love one another as I have loved you

John 15:12-17
Dear Families,
The end of the summer months is near and its time for another school year. We hope all our St. Columba
families have been blessed with quality family time. As we prepare for the 2017/2018 school year I would like
to welcome all our new families to our community. I am sure you will soon get to know and be a part of a
community that has been built with love and dedication. The faculty and PTG are already in the planning
stages for another year of fun-filled events for the whole school. Let us continue to work together to share with
the community all of St. Columbas accomplishments. We have a lot to be proud of!
St. Columba had more facility improvements and upgrades this summer. A heart felt thank you to the
Mens Club and Mr. Tony for all their hard work and countless hours spent upgrading and improving our
church and school facilities. The boys bathroom and Art Room bathrooms have a fresh look. Lets continue to
remind our students to respect school property and the labor that goes into maintenance. The school and
nurses offices have new flooring and fresh paint too. The statue of Our Blessed Mother in front of the Minis-
try Center has a beautiful blue background behind her. These are just a few of the many jobs that the Mens
Club and Mr. Tony have completed to keep St. Columba beautiful.
A special thank you to Mr. Ed Diamond and his family for their generous donation towards upgrading our
basketball court. They also put in hours planning and installing the new equipment. The school now has new
basketball backboards and pole pads. What a great new look. This is the Diamonds second generation of stu-
dents now attending St. Columba. We love our alumni!!
The church and school are having a Parish clean up on Saturday, August 19th from 8:00am -12noon. We
would like to have as many parents come out as possible that morning to help finish our last clean up touches
for the new school year. Bring your water bottle and come join the fun. Light refreshments will be provided.
Blessings,
Ms. Navarro
