01. Introduction

In Sri Lanka, having humid and hot weather throughout the year. Therefore Mechanical
Ventilation and Air Conditioning (MVAC) is must for creating a pleasant environment inside
a building.

Currently, we are using vast range of Air Conditioning systems to cater the cooling demand
and VAV systems are most commonly used. And also mechanical ventilation and air
conditioning systems consumes lager portion from the total energy consumption of a building.
Therefore the demand for the energy efficient MVAC systems are rapidly increasing. So that
finding an affordable and reliable energy saving control strategy for a VAV system is an
attractive solution.

02. Objectives
01. To study about the VAV system control strategies are practising in the world.
02. Finding most affordable and reliable proven energy efficient strategies to practise in
our country.
03. Study the possibility of further developments for more energy efficient VAV systems.
04. Identify research gaps for improve the energy efficient VAV systems.
05. Finding and study about the alternative solutions for energy efficient mechanical
ventilation and air conditioning system.
