Introduction
Major factors contributing to the progress in development and
applications of turbo type pumps are as follows:

- Adaptability for drive by high speed prime movers (electric motors,

internal combustion engines and steam turbines),

- Wide range of applicability in capacity to be handled and head or

pressure to be produced,

- High efficiencies with least pulsating flow in discharge,

- Small size and low cost for the hydraulic output obtained, and

- Simple construction facilitating ease of operation and maintenance.

8. Pump-Gate

Technological outline
Small-scale system: A pumping station is
installed in a natural discharge channel.
Development of pump gates that Discharge channel

accommodate low water levels

Effects of development Gate

Cost reduction by eliminating the bypass
channel and saving land area at the pumping
station
The water level at which pumps start
operation has became lower.
