Series and Parallel Connection of Resistor

by
Rod Diego T. Palaganas

Introduction
Synthesis
Components of an electrical circuit or electronic
circuit can be connected in many different ways. The Comparing the experimental values and
two simplest of these are called series and parallel and computed values based on the experiment, the rules on
occur frequently. Components connected in series are series and parallel has been proven correct such that if
connected along a single path, so the the components of the electrical circuit are connected
same current flows through all of the in series, the current is the same in all parts and hence
components. Components connected in parallel are the same reading and equivalent I, current, for each;
connected along multiple paths, so the same voltage is and the sum of the voltage is equal to the applied
applied to each component. A circuit composed solely voltage; lastly for the series connection, the total
of components connected in series is known as a series resistance obtained by adding together the values of the
circuit; likewise, one connected completely in parallel is separate resistances. However, if the components of the
known as a parallel circuit. electrical circuit are connected in parallel, the sum of
the currents is equal to the circuit current.
Discussion

Based on the diagram from the manual, the first

figure is done with 3 resistors and a certain value for
E DC , and supposed to be in series circuit. The same
in 2nd figure this time it would be in parallel circuit. For
the computed values apply the following rule to
determine the computed value for the table 1. The
same in table 2 but it would have a different approach
to determine the computed value.
