ANALYSIS FM MAPPING

The experiment was done by observing the quality of signal received by the FM receiver in 20
different vicinities or points of Adamson University. The receptions were classified as no signal, weak
and strong. For the FM station Mellow 94.7 was chosen as the base radio station for the experiment
which has a frequency of 94.7MHz and is stationed at Paragon Plaza, EDSA, Mandaluyong City. None of
the points made the FM receiver unable to receive any signal. ME Laboratory beside OZ 107 and CHE
Dept. Unit Op. Lab were the only points that the receiver acquired weak signal. The FM receiver
perceived a strong signal for the rest of the points. Through this experiment, it can be seen that there
are many factors that could affect the reception of signal of the FM receiver some of it were the
distance of the receiver from the transmitter and the range it can cover, obstruction from the
transmitter to the receiver such as buildings or mountain ranges where the transmitters line of sight is
blocked, weather may also affect the signal reception where clouds, thunderstorms and the like may
attenuate the signal being transmitted since the transmitter of these radio stations are usually stationed
on top of high buildings.

ANALYSIS AM MAPPING

The experiment was done by observing the quality of signal received by the AM receiver in 20
different vicinities or points of Adamson University. The receptions were classified as no signal, weak
and strong. For the AM station Radio Veritas was chosen as the base radio station for the experiment
which has a frequency of 846kHz and is stationed at Paramount Skybridge, Quezon City. Engineering
Dispensing, OZ Gate, and AdU Gallery were the points the AM receiver didnt receive any signal. Mock
Office Laboratory, ST Canteen, ST Fountain, CS Gate, and IECES were the points that the receiver
acquired weak signal. The AM receiver perceived a strong signal for the rest of the points. Through this
experiment, it can be seen that there are many factors that could affect the reception of signal of the
AM receiver some of it were station interference which covers the geographical factors that may affect
the transmission of signal, the signal strength being perceived by the receiver where in the distance
from the transmitter affects the quality of signal, the farther the receiver is the poorer the reception and
also the transmitters coverage is a factor affecting the signal reception.
