Date: July 19,2017

I. Objectives:
At the end of the lesson, of the students should be able to:
1. Infer the unknown phenotypes of individuals on the basis of the known
phenotypes of their family members.
II. Learning Task
A. Subject Matter
NON-MENDELIAN PATTERNS OF INHERITANCE
B. Teaching Aids and Devices
Chalk and board, Visual Aid, Learners Module, Teachers guide and materials to
be used for the activity.
C. Reference
Lerners Module, Teachers Guide

III. ACTIVITY

Teachers Activity Students activity

A. Pre-Activity
The teacher will ask the
students what is their blood
type.
This morning we are going to
discuss another non-
mendelian pattern of
inheritance which is the
multiple alleles, and you will
know more about that through
our activity. The student will perform the activity.

B. Activity Proper
(see the attached activity sheet) The student will present the result of
their activity in class.
C. Post Activity
The teacher will let the student
report the result of their activity in
class.

IV. Analysis
Teachers Activity Students Activity
What are the things that did you observed Answers may vary
from our activity?

What blood type (or types) can be found Answers may vary .
in an offspring if a mother has type A
blood and the father has type B blood?

V. Abstraction

The teacher will discuss the following :
Sometimes, even if only two
alleles control a trait, there may
actually be more than two types
of alleles available. This will also
lead to more than two phenotypes
expressed. Another blood group
system in humans, the ABO
system, is an example of a
character governed by multiple
VI. alleles. Three alleles are
responsible for this blood system:

Application

The teacher will let ask the students the following:

What are the three patterns of inheritance that does not

conform with the mendels principle of heredity? Answers may vary

The teacher will let the students identify the blood types
of an offspring given the blood types of the mother and
father.
