Random Plant Effects

A system for determining

toxicity, helpful benefits,
and other quirks in fruit,
leaves, berries, and bark
I created a campaign with an unknown jungle, rife with plant life which had the power to hurt and heal.
Start by rolling a d20 to determine if the plant contains something harmful, neutral, or helpful (or more
than one of the above!).

1: two dangers 4: Roll twice 7-15: 1 neutral 18: Roll three times
2: 1 danger, 1 benefit 5: 1 danger 16: 1 benefit, 1 neutral 19: 1 benefit
3: 1 danger, 1 neutral 6: 2 neutral 17: 1 benefit, 1 danger 20: 2 benefits

Next, roll 1d10 for each applicable column in the second table. For example, the climbing vine with
delicious flowers might also have fruit that induces nausea, or a plant with an inert property (such a tree
thats easy to climb) might coincidentally have bark that is hallucinogenic on contact. If a part of a plant
isnt appropriate, either reroll or just modify the existing plant part (e.g. if a character is specifically
looking for fruit but you roll for something that describes flowers, the effects can be applied to the fruit
of that plant instead.).
