Post-Installation Steps of the NWDI in the

SAP NetWeaver™ 2004 SPS15 Sneak-Preview

The SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (JDI/NWDI) in the Sneak Preview is set up
in a way that you can work with the preconfigured development configuration “TEST” with
NWDI and SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio on the same PC after you performed the post-
installation of the DTR and CBS server. Since the NWDI is a central development system you
might be interested in using it from several clients to see how team work feels in this
environment. Here you find the description how to change the settings in a way to do so.

Post-Installation of the DTR and CBS Server

Design Time Repository
The DTR needs to be set up after the installation process:
1. Copy the file “CopyState.properties” into the following path (create folder
“SystemCopy” if needed): "<install.drive>\usr\sap\J2E\SYS\global\SystemCopy\".
2. Restart the DTR Service (you may also simply restart the J2EE Engine):

 go.bat and log in

a. Start the “Visual Administrator” tool under
<installation drive>\usr\sap\J2E\JC03\j2ee\admin
with password “admin”.
b. Choose Cluster Server Services Deploy Server servlet_jsp.
c. Choose “sap.com/tc~dtr~enterpriseapp”.
d. Choose button “Stop Application” then “Start Application”.
3. Redeploy the DTR database schema:
a. Open the SCA file “SAPDEVINF11_0.SCA” under
<the_folder_you_extracted_the_files_to>\NWSneakPreviewSP15\SAP_Net
Weaver_04_SR_1_Java_DVD\J2EE_OSINDEP\JDI\ONLINE with WinZip or
WinRAR and extract the sda file “sap.com~tc~dtr~dbschema.sda“.
(Note, that there are installation instructions regarding this folder).
b. Open SDM under <installation drive>\usr\sap\J2E\JC00\SDM\program

RemoteGui.bat and log on with password “admin”.
c. Choose the “Deployment” tab.
d. Choose “Add SCA/SDA to Deployment List” (a green button with a plus
sign) and add the sda file “sap.com~tc~dtr~dbschema.sda“.
e. In “Deployment Configuration” choose Update deployed SDAs/SCAs that
have any version (use the black triangle pointing up to open the options)
f. Deploy, Confirm and “Disconnect from the SDM Server”.

Component Build Service

If you encounter problems during the activation very probably the JDK HOME path of your
PC does not match with the value in the installation:
1. Open the “Visual Administrator” tool.
2. Choose J2E Server 0 … Services Component Build Service.
3. Choose BUILD_TOOL_JDK_HOME and JDK_HOME_PATHS and set it to your
actual “JDK” path using the “Value” field, then “Update”.
4. Exit the Visual Administrator via Connect Exit.
DTR and CBS Service will now be working correctly.
Getting Started
Before we start, here's a little note on how to get started with the NWDI.
If using the NWDI all development steps start in the “Development Configuration
perspective” where you work in predefined development systems loaded from a server. Here
are the settings in the Developer Studio you need to make.

Define the Server to Load the Development Configuration from

This setting is done in the “Development Configuration Pool”.
1. Open the SAP NW Developer Studio.
2. Under Windows
Preferences Java Development Infrastructure
Development Configuration Pool set URL “http://<host>:<port>“ (host might be
localhost if the NWDI is installed on the same machine; port = 50000

Open the “Development Configuration” Perspective

1. Open the SAP NW Developer Studio.
2. Under Windows
Open Perspective
Other… choose Development
Configuration Perspective (here you import development configurations)
You will now be able to connect to the NWDI.
