ELECTR-O-FUZE TUFF SKIN

In pipes laid horizontally, the pipe bohoms are the

inner surfaces exposed to the highest loads, while
Rngs with bends or branches are subjected to
parWcularly severe wear

Slurry was circulated through the test loop at a dened bend ow velocity of 3.5
m/s (10.8 /s) (63 mm ID) and at a slurry volumetric solids concentraWon of
15%v. The test duraWon was 24 hours in total per slurry. On compleWon of the
test, the volume of material lost from the test specimen face due to exposure to
the slurry was measured. This allowed for assessing the relaWve wear (material
loss) for the pipe materials tested. Three dierent slurries were used to
invesWgate the eect of slurry parWcle size:

Coarse slurry with d90 parWcle size 5.12 mm (considered to be
highly abrasive)
Medium slurry with d90 parWcle size 824 m (moderately abrasive)
Fine slurry with d90 parWcle size 162 m (non-abrasive)

Volume loss sucient for a reliable ranking of performance of all of the pipe
material samples was achieved for the Coarse slurry only. The key outcomes
are as follows:
AEP Material is one of the best performing materials, along with Blue
Polyurethane, with a volume loss that was so small it could not be measured
accurately.
