COMMITTEE ON SOLID WASTE MANAGEMENT

AND ENVIRONMENT PROTECTION

Suggestions and Recommendations by the undersigned taken up during the Seniors

Officers Meeting last August 26, 2017
a. Proper Waste Disposal through waste segregation (biodegradable and non-
biodegradable). Only non-biodegradable materials should be disposed. Every
household should create a composting pit for biodegradable materials.
Composting helps to reduce waste by converting biodegradable materials to
fertilizer.

b. Drainage canals should also be constructed alongside the streets to avoid flooding
and inconvenience.

c. Residents should also be a responsible dog owner. Dogs should be tied to keep
them away from garbage and avoid messing them up.

d. Avoid burning dried leaves and other garbage materials because this contributes
to the depletion of the ozone layer.

e. The barangay should also have a facility wherein electronic wastes are to be
collected for proper disposal these includes battery, bulbs etc.

f. Minimize the use of plastics and styrofoams instead use ecobags.

g. Reinforce constant checking of surroundings around residential homes and throw

all possible materials where rainwater can accumulate as this can serve as a
breeding place for mosquitoes which in turn can be detrimental to the health and
well-being of the community.
