The cottages provide private rooms and bathrooms for seniors seeking assisted living or respite care. Resthaven also launched a $5 million capital campaign to fund expansion projects including two new cottages, more private rooms in the care center, and a greenhouse-style cottage for long-term care. The organization plans to build a second greenhouse cottage to meet growing demand for senior housing and care.

The Campaign for
Resthaven is Launched RESTHAVEN HAS INITIATED a capital campaign to support the growing needs of older adults throughout the greater community as well as current residents whose financial resources have been depleted by care costs. On March 15, Resthaven announced a major fundraising campaign with a goal of Co-Chairs: Bill and Diane raising $5 million in community support. At Ryckbost (front), Andy and Lois a news conference held at the James I. & Jean Mulder (back) Cook Chapel on the Care Center campus, campaign leaders shared the initiatives of the campaign and the total raised through leadership gifts. Specifically, the campaign will support: Construction of two 12-unit cottages for assisted living at Maple Woods The addition of more private rooms in Resthavens Care Center Construction of a 10-unit GREEN HOUSE cottage for long-term care Increased of funds for benevolent care assistance The campaign, A Calling, A Promise, A Vision, is co-chaired by community leaders Bill and Diane Ryckbost and Andy and Lois Mulder, and supported by a campaign cabinet. It resulted from strategic planning that identified critical needs in the next three years. The cost of these initiatives is $8.8 million. Resthaven is asking the community to invest $5 million when combined with Resthavens investment will accomplish the campaign goals. The campaign greatly affirmed Resthavens mission and its role in serving older adults in our community, says Bill Ryckbost, a campaign co- chair. A successful campaign will allow us to continue the 72-year tradition of quality, compassionate care with new and enhanced service offerings. Fundraising efforts will continue through 2017, including a broad community request in September. To view a short video on The Campaign for Resthaven, visit resthaven.org. Given the acclaim of the Vern & Lois Boermsa Cottage, Resthaven intends to build another cottage of similar design and scope.

NOTE FROM THE PRESIDENT ITS BEEN AN EXCITING YEAR with many strategic accomplishments and challenges. We completed a 9 East 8th Street partnership with the formation of Holland Michigan 49423 Atrio, our home health care services, to improve and expand our home and community-based services. We made significant progress toward our $5 million capital campaign goal, with gifts and pledges totaling $3.4 million. We opened Maple Woods Cottage, our new assisted living center. The average occupancy of our residences exceeds 95%. We also face challenges moving forward. A growing senior population, increasing costs, uncertainty of government funding and a tight job market will require increased efficiencies and staff recruitment efforts. We can meet those challenges with our strong management team, stewardship of resources and reputation as a desirable place to work. We deeply appreciate the support of the greater community in helping us fulfill our mission and continue our tradition of caring for older adults.
