INTRODUCTION
I am looking forward to approach learners with holistic approach, have empathy for all learners,
my colleagues and the community. I want to be a teacher who views teaching as an art and
values the outcomes of a rigorous curriculum.
This portfolio is a showcases of my works and abilities that meet all ten teachers performances
standards.
Ethics refers to the set of moral standards by which people are normally guided in their private
and professional lives. The teaching profession has its own code of conduct of ethics which
describes the way teachers should behave in and out of classroom.
The South African Council for Educators (SACE) developed the SACE code of professional ethics
(SACE 2006b). This code was developed and agreed upon by all the unions and employers , it
describes the educators behavior.
NORMS OF TEACHER:
The teacher should respect dignity
Acknowledge the uniqueness of learners
Develop the values
Avoid humiliation
Refrain from sexual harassment
Refrain from physical contact or sexual relationship with the learners
The hardest part is not teaching the subject matter, it is managing the classroom because
effective teaching and learning cannot occur in a chaotic classroom. No matter where teaching
and learning occur the teacher has the responsibility to create an environment that is conducive
and free from disruptive behavior.
MY PHILOSOPHY
The main reason why I decided to become a teacher. I was inspired by my grade 8 teacher. The
way she would explore teaching, how she would approach the learners, she really made teaching
and learning process to be easy and enjoyable . The teacher was an idol of learners, she
understood the learners psychology. Gave clear explanation and made the complicated simple
She was a guide to us, motivated and inspired learners with passion .Acknowledge the learners
uniqueness, that where I gained passion for teaching .I realized that I should also pass those skills
that I acquired from my teacher to another generation so that they can be able to learn and
fulfill the positive role in a society .
COMMUNITY CENTER
I also gained passion from a community center (love life) where we teach teenage girls about
their physical; emotional development and body changes. Discussing life challenges that they
might experience when life goes by, as they are teenagers they explore real life problems and
see the world at their own point of view, therefore we act as guide to them , we offer girls talks
so that they can be well developed women, who fulfill the positive role in a society and be a
responsible citizen .

On my first encounter with my cooperating teacher who was my mentor, I realized that she was
so impressed to be my mentor because I was her learner. My mentor was approachable and
willing to help, she then immediately introduced me to her mathematical literacy learners and
asked me to motivate the learners about the significant of education
My first approach with the learners, I observed that some were inspired and most of them were
concerned and could not wait to be taught by me. From the learners and my mentor I learnt how
to approach various learners, with different behavior, from different backgrounds and religions
because as a teacher you have to understand and respect the South African diversity

When I first taught I was so nervous but when time goes by it felt so easy, as the learners were
participating, starting to ask questions and required help were did not understand, I felt so stand
in front of the learners and grow them emotionally and mentally in order for them to achieve
their goals and play a positive role in the society
Teachers should always keep up with to the date with modern technology as the learners are
growing up effortlessly in a digital culture , digital communication such as online games ,social
networks and devices such as mobile phones .Technology makes learners learn easy as it
encourage learners to learn , discuss ,explain and concepts emphasis concepts learnt in a
classroom .Involvements in interactive media enables learners to clarify concepts ,improve their
discussion and findings also helps to find solution in real life problems .

The teacher should always take into consideration when selecting a technology teaching method
such as:
Power points
Videos
Smart boards
CONCLUSION
After the next coming 5 years I want to see myself graduated, working as a teacher .Passing my
acquired knowledge to another generation ,growing learners physical , emotional and
psychologically and helping them to meet their full potential and achieve their goals , fulfill a
positive role in a society .I am also looking forward to further my studies as they say education is
