questions & answering as many as you can WITHOUT looking at your notes first. Then go back through with them and fill

1. Three Main Religions: Christianity, Judaism and Islam. Know similarities and differences between the three religions.
Use your chart and video notes to help you. Be able to answer questions about that.
Christianity

Judaism
What is the Holy Text? Where did it begin?
What are the followers called? Place of worship?
Who was the founder? Main country of people?
Who is Jesus in this religion?

Islam
What is the Holy Text? Where did it begin (name 2 holy cities)?
What are the followers called? Place of worship?
Who was the founder? Main country of people?
Who is Jesus in this religion?

What is the difference between a Sunni and Shia (shiite) Muslim? In what Middle Eastern country do a majority of the Sunni
Muslims live? In what country do a majority of the Shia (Shiite) Muslims live?

2. Middle Eastern Cultures- Be able to answer questions about the following topics

What is the difference between an ethnic group and a religious group?

Who are the Kurds? In what countries do a majority of the Kurds live? Why dont they just create their own country?

What are the main ethnic groups of the Middle East?

Why is the holy city of Jerusalem significant to Jews, Christians, and Muslims?

How does each of these three religions view Jesus differently?

3. Environment & oil: define the following vocab words and be sure you can write short sentences about or explain the
phrases.
- dams and irrigation systems - two most important natural resources
- aquifers - oil reserves
- drip irrigation & desalination plants - oil money
- the Rub a Khali - the Persian Gulf
- Bedouins - OPEC
- fresh water sources - chemical fertilizers
