A Peek At The Sunday Sermon

Its More Than Bread and Wine

Luke 22:14-20

Last month, August 6th to be exact, and during our 10:00 AM

Morning Worship - we celebrated Communion. Nothing unusual
about this portion of the Service. In fact, it was routine.

Music Director Brian Sampson played appropriate music during

the Service for the Sacrament. There was a breaking of the
bread and pouring of the wine. We prayed. The communion
elements were distributed, and a closing prayer signaled it was
time to sing our closing hymn.

Nothing had changed from last month, last year, last

Ive been thinking about our Service of Communion and realize

how easy the Holy Communion liturgy can become boring and
predicable. And so, my homily will focus on the sacrament and
help us all to see that it is more than bread and wine.
See you at 10 AM for Sunday Worship!

Beginning June 11th (Trinity Sunday) and until

November 19th the altar Colors are green,
symbolizing the renewal of vegetation and generally
of living things and the promise of new life!

Our suggested Scripture reading for August 20, from the 2017 UCC
Church Calendar:

Romans 12:9-11 (NLT)

Spirit-Led Living
9
Dont just pretend to love others. Really love them. Hate
what is wrong. Hold tightly to what is good. 10 Love each
other with genuine affection, and take delight in honoring
each other. 11 Never be lazy, but work hard and serve the
Lord enthusiastically.

Helping the Needy in Michigan

We are now collecting non-perishable food donations that will be
delivered to the Fish & Loaves food pantry, in Taylor. This
organization was first launched by an ecumenical group of
churches, led by St. Paul United Church of Christ in Taylor and
their Pastor, Rev. Geoff Fish
Drutchas.
& Loaves offers needy families and
individuals a wide range of canned goods,
refrigerated and frozen foods, dairy
products, and seasonal produce at no
cost to clients. Since opening its doors in
2008, the Fish & Loaves Pantry has
assisted more than 9100 households and
over 13,000 men, women, and children.
They distribute over two million pounds of
food annually.

ended with him!
Similarly, the Bible represents our final authority for knowing Gods
will for our lives. From the Book of Isaiah to St. Pauls Letter to the
Colossians This is going to be an exciting adventure!!!
