POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

Behaviour Assessment
Personal Management Skills - The student self-monitors own behaviors and personal
growth, organizes for learning, contributes positively to the learning process and takes
responsibility for work completion.
Active Participation in Learning - The student participates actively in learning, is curious, sets
learning goals, self-assesses, provides feedback, and uses feedback for improvement.
Social Responsibility - The student demonstrates citizenship and social skills that contribute to
making the classroom, school, and larger community a positive, safe and caring environment.

Academic Assessment
In this course your term grade will be determined by: homework
checks, assignments, lab activities, quizzes and tests. Course Work 70%
All students will write the final exam in February. Final Exam 30%

Homework
When learning a new skill students need a great deal of practice in order to achieve
mastery. Learning new content does not always happen quickly.
When homework is assigned it is expected to be completed even if the homework itself is
not worth an immediate mark. The work will be rewarded on future tests.

Assignments
It is expected that all students use class time wisely and complete all assignments on time.
Once an assignment has been handed back late assignments may receive a mark of zero.

Quizzes & Tests

If you have an excused absence for the day of a test please make arrangements to write it
the day you return to school.
If you skip a test or quiz you will receive a zero.
There will be no re-tests granted in this course.

Absences
Let Mrs. Lockhart know ahead of time if you know youll be away.
As soon as you return to school (even if we dont have class that day) go to your folder in
the student mailbox to find out what you missed.
If you have questions about the missed material ask a classmate first.
Get caught up quickly!

Extra help is available if and when you need it. I am usually available
at lunch, and before or after school. Please let me know if you are
planning on coming in, so that I know to be in the classroom.
