Johanna: Kath, you know what, recently i have been struggling on how to have a decent job with
enough pay that could sustain our basic needs everyday. I just lost my job. My life's a mess right
now. I don't know what am i going to do given the fact that I'm a widow and do not have any
savings. What will I gonna do now?! What will happen to my sons and daughters? I know I
should not ask you, but do you have extra money? Could you lend me some? I promise I will
find a job soon and pay you back immediately.

Kath: I'm sorry johanna but we have in the same situations my boss just fired me yesterday and
right now I really have no money because of our expenses for my husband in the hospital. I'm
worried about my eldest son because he just graduated highschool and should be enrolling for
college next month. I do not have enough money to send him to college. Should i just tell him to
stop studying? I don't know what to do now.

(Iven(barangay captain) and his secretary(Moira) passed by.)

Johanna and kath: Goodmorning barangay captain! Goodmorning secretary Moira!

Untalan: oh hello! How are you?

Johanna: we are struggling financially sir iven. We are talking about how are we going to solve
our problems.

Kath: yes sir. We both are now unemployed and have no income. If ever you have information
for jobs sir could you please notify us?

Iven: everyone has its own problems. The farmers i just went to also said that they are not
gaining enough profit. Especially coffee farmers.

Johanna: really sir? It seems that life hit our barangay problems big time.

Iven: But you see, every problem there's a solution.

Kath: What do you mean sir?

Iven: you two are unemployed right?

Johanna and Kath: yes, sir. Do you have job openings for us?

Iven: Nestl develops programs which are relevant to the needs of the communities where it
operates.

Johanna: really? Like what sir?

Iven: Moira, could you tell them what you just said about Nestl programs.

Moira: just like here in our province(lipa, batangas)the Nestle Factory in Lipa, Batangas
conducts a Cut & Sew Livelihood Project, which provides job opportunities to community
workers by giving them the factory's orders for shoe covers, rags and uniforms. It also has a Yard
and Garden Livelihood Project which caters to unemployed barangay housewives in the area
where the factory operates. This project provides livelihood opportunities through cut flower
production and organic vegetable farming. In the same area, a Suklay and Gunting Project is
being implemented, which involves a hands-on training on hairdressing for housewives.

Kath: That's great! Now, we can have jobs. Do they have other activities?

Moira: Nestle also conducts a Technical Skills Scholarship Program which is a two-year
program which combines theoretical and hands-on training. This is implemented in cooperation
with Don Bosco College in Canlubang, Laguna. Nestle also conducts a program called Academic
Linkage Program where it provides training to selected students from educational students.

Johanna: Kath, you can now send your son to school with the help of scholarship and academic
programs conducted by Nestle!

Kath: indeed, there is a solution for every problem.

Johanna: but what about the farmers? How can we help them?

Iven: No worries. Another program by Nestle can help our farmers.

Kath: what type of program?

Johanna: and how?

Moira: For your information since the 1960's, Nestle Philippines has been helping coffee farmers
in different parts of the country through imparting knowledge on how they can improve their
crops. Members of the company visit these farmers regularly to reinforce among them the
importance of good plantation management. By improving methods in growing coffee, farmers
get better yields and eventually help increase the coffee supply in the Philippines as well as help
the farmers increase their income

Kath: that'll be a great help for our farmers!

Iven: is that your son in bike approaching?

Johanna: yes sir. That's my youngest.

Iven: look how they grow up so fast.

(Suddenly, johanna's son loses his balance and fell down)

(Johanna, kath, iven, moira came fast towards johanna's son)

Johanna: son, are you okay? Is it painful? I told you to take care always!

Kath: don't blame him for what happened. It was an accident.

Iven: take him to the gym. Nestl's conducting a medical mission and feeding program there
right now. Hurry.

Johanna and kath: okay sir. Let's go!

(After giving johanna's son first aid)

Kath: Nestl is not only committed to its company and customers but is also committed to
helping in community and nation building through programs that help the underprivileged
members of society like us.

Johanna: That's right! Slow clap for them.
